RACING AND PHONE SERVICE
So things were looking pretty bad in Oklahoma City this morning. We had an overcast sky and light showers were moving across the city. Not a lot of rain but enough to get things damp however the weather did stay enough to the south to allow racing at Sooner State BMX today. A few of us made the trip there, some to offer a helping hand and other to race. With a turn over of staff there this off season a few helping hands made them more comfortable. Things went off without a hitch. There were 44 riders who made the trip and things were great as far as the racing went. The track was a little out of was out of shape but considering a rebuild and almost no time to work on the track things were not bad and we had a lot of fun.
We are not sure just how long the phone number for Sooner Pearl has remained the same but it looks like there may be a change in the future. Currently the number is not working. We will be looking to change this soon.

YES BUT NOT REALLY
So things were pretty nice again today and considering that a couple of us went out to work on the track. Not a lot of time was spent there at least not enough for some. While we still have work to be done with the City before real work can start. The weather is going to dry out and track work is ahead. We have many things not on the track which have to be done and we still have no water or electricity. Soon many of these things will be changing.

GREAT DAY
After all the wild weather we have had with back and forth rain, no rain this day was one to roll down the windows and get in some fresh air while driving. Not quite Spring yet but today was pretty close. With a high for the day of 69° it was nice to have a break from the cold weather.
So far this month we have not had any measureable amount of precip and no freezing temps since the 2nd of this month. Now we may have some dry tracks to race on this weekend. We hope this is a change we can all like. However our forecast has rain for Sunday.
It looks like we may have a little time to work at Trosper this weekend on Saturday before we travel to Ponca City for the opening race of Sooner State BMX. Hope the rain holds off till then!

WARM WEATHER TODAY
From a low this morning of just above freezing we made it to 63° today and it was on the nice side even with the wind we have. It was a real windy day and somewhat overcast but the warm temps made it nice for a change. Just what we have been looking for to help get things dried out in Oklahoma.
The forecast has some more warm weather ahead for us which may help dry us even more, maybe enough to actually have a chance to work on our tracks this weekend.

SOUTH WIND AND WARM TEMPS
It was a typical day for us today. The wind changed and was out of the south which usually means warm dry weather. It was dry today and well above the freezing temps we have had. It was all the way up to 57° and with the very low wind things seemed a little warmer than it was. Now if we could just keep this warm weather for a few more days. Our weather forecast has changed almost daily this week so the weekend weather is up in the air now. At least we have warm weather in the forecast but there is also a chance for more rain ahead for the weekend.
In a couple days we will get word on our situation for the track at Trosper. This has been a huge delay in getting things going and we are ready to get back to work.

SO THE WEATHER HAS BEEN A FACTOR?
OK, so the weather has been a factor and many are balling up from cabin fever. With a National event less than 3 weeks away the question is will OK01 have many riders there and how will the do over the weekend. Many have had almost no track time this year, many thanks to Mother Nature. Riders who race in OK01 have had to travel to get District points. It has not been so pleasant for many who have not been able to make trips for points.
On a lighter note and if the weather stays dry it looks like Sunday racing will start at Sooner State BMX this coming weekend. Under new management for 2010 that place is about to heat up. A track rebuild happened over the very long break. Not only that but there have been changes to the track and the track area. It also looks like there are more changes ahead for the newest BMX track in Oklahoma. More on this later.
Also in about a month if things dry out and luck is on their side Miami BMX will start racing as well. It looks like we have some traveling scheduled.

MORE NEWS COMING SOON
It was clody today and the wind picked up a little but again we had not rain and it got warm enough today to get some drying. Things are still saturated and that will not change for a few days. Now just a few days of dry would be nice. Could it be a change for the better?
As for the NEWS thing. There have been many things happening in the background. Time will tell what the total outcome will be but things are changing around us. We will have some word on the new track soon.

BACK TO SOME DRYING WEATHER
Today Mother Nature blessed us with a day without moisture falling from the sky. Just a little wind and mostly above freezing things again started to move into the drying stage today. More wind would have been nice but it may not matter in the long run since our forecast it looking pretty good for the short term. A change would be nice.

MORE RAIN AND SNOW
Well again it was a day of weather related events. It was dry today and we above freezing some of the day at least it didn't rain more. With almost a half inch of rain and a little over a quarter inch of snow falling yesterday things changed a little today. Now to get something started.

WHAT KIND OF WEATHER WAS THAT?
Late last night if you were outside you could hear rumbling from the storm moving into town. About midnight the rain started, light at first then it became a little harder but not real hard. Early this morning the city got a little dusting of snow. On the east side of town we had about a half inch this morning. As things warmed up the snow melted to run off to another place since the ground is saturated now.
If you are looking to race this weekend Sand Springs BMX is open and they will be racing Saturday. Check their site or call 918-245-5269 or Steve Arrowood @ 918-813-2157 for the lastest info. Good luck!

SO WHAT
It was a strange day. We started out well below freezing this morning with 22° and we warmed up to 54° only thing is you could not tell it got that warm. Today was a day for the wind and as is mostly the norm for Oklahoma City it was from the south but it was a day to hold on to something if you had to go outside. We had gusts to 39mph but most of the time the wind stayed between 18 and 30mph. AS for ahead we have rain which is already in the area. Just northwest of the city is a storm a brewin'. We have rain/snow coming.

OK, OK
I mean really. This weather has to go away. Even though the day was good because it didn't rain. the sun was out and we had some wind so things did dry a little. On the other hand we had to say out of the winds to feel any warmth from the sun and it didn't get very warm only 46°. It was OK.

A DUSTING OF SNOW
Some of this is nice just to see things covered in snow. For a snow day it was a minor one to say the least. We did make it well above freezing today so it did dry a very little after the snow burned away.
And we thought it was wet.

November 2009, .29 inches of rain, 0 inches of snow.
December 2009, 1.47 inches of rain, 14 inches of snow.
January 2010, 2.77 inches of rain, 5.2 inches of snow.
February 2010, 1.92 inches of rain, 1.2 inches of snow.

November 2008, .7 inches of rain, 0 inches of snow.
December 2008, .52 inches of rain, trace of snow.
January 2009, .43 inches of rain, 1.4 inches of snow.
February 2009, .98 inches of rain, trace of snow.

NOT REALLY MUCH BETTER
Mother Nature kept out any real drying today by holding down our high for the day. What drying we did have was from wind as the sun didn't make much of a show today. With nearly 1.5 inches of rain to dry out from yesterday it is still wet here after today.
The weather ahead is not looking to much better. It seems we are having 2 days of rain/ice/snow and 2 days of no moisture. The ground is again saturated with moisture, deep.

BRING DOWN THE HOUSE
Another day of rain we had today. But with all this rain there has been a alot of things happening. There is a rumor going around there may be another BMX track in the future for Oklahoma. We have been trying to verify this but with very little luck. Suffice to say that there are plans made. These are are not carved in stone but there are many who are wondering what this is about.
What is about to begin....

AND THE RAIN COMETH
Some days are just destined not to be good, this was one of those days. Today the rain started out very light and did not make it to much more than a misty cloudy funk of a day. With rain developing right over our heads it was another sad day for BMX here. The year 2010 will be a defining year for our sport. Our races will come, the tracks will open and soon we will forget the rain we have had. Rain has a way of washing many things away, the test is about to begin....

WILL WE RACE THIS WEEKEND?
It looks like Mother Nature has again set off to delay the racing action in the Oklahoma City area. So now we have to consider driving to other tracks to find the way to race. With no moisture falling for the last 11 days and the weather holding off the sun and wind the drying process has slowed. Now we have more moisture in the forecast for later this weekend. When will the drought of racing in Oklahoma City end?

NICE DAY
The weather today was a huge change from what we have had since the middle of November when the cold wet weather started and our racing stopped. The weather today was about as nice a one could ask for for this time of year. The sun was out, the wind was churning away and we did a lot of drying out. If we could have only a couple days like this and things would change.

3RD DAY ABOVE FREEZING
It was not that nice today but we managed to stay above freezing and all things considered that was good today. No moisture today and a little drying was about all we got now if we can make it to the weekend drier maybe the tracks will be in a condition to be worked on and ridden on.

BIG CHANGES AHEAD
For a long time we have had to set back and watch Mother Nature take away the time our local riders need to have on a track to compete in our sport. With low temps in the evenings working on a track during the week has all but stopped for many. Without above freezing weather we are all waiting to see waht happens so we can get on a track and ride. We have big changes ahead but what are they and how will they affect our sport. Now only time will tell.

COOL, WINDY AND DRY
So we had about half and half today. Half the day was above freezing and well you can figure out the rest. The sun did shine and the wind was up from yesterday which did a lot more drying today. Now we have rain and snow in the forecast for Thursday and Friday. Just when we have a little time to dry here comes the moisture again. What hacky weather we have been having.
Word is there have already been more changes in our sport this month and we understand more are in store soon.
Are we having fun now.......

COLD, WINDY AND A LITTLE SNOW
The wind was the factor today. We made it above freezing today but the 40mph wind made it hard to work outside for any time, just to cold. Even with the cold the sun was out most of the day and the wind did help a lot to dry things out. We have a few dry days ahead but more moisture is in the forcast. Will this weather ever give us a break?
We also got a little dusting of snow overnight, not hardly enough to talk about but we did.

SOMEWHAT NICE DAY
Even with the wind today was a nice day for the middle of February. It almost made it to the 60s today. It was a good day to be out working at the track. The track was to wet to work on but we did get some little things that ended being a lot of work done today.
As for those who were to go to Sand Springs to race many were sidelined at the last minute and didn't make the trip. Maybe next weekend?

MILD WEATHER, MORE AHEAD
We started the day a little on the cool side but things changed a bunch when the skies cleared. After that it was all uphill and it turned out to be a really nice day. A lot of drying happened today in the city area.
On the racing front it looks like Sand Springs BMX will be racing Saturday afternoon. Word is they will be out early in the morning to get a little work completed before races. Some of our local riders will be cruising up to race tomorrow. It looks like the 1st Local BMX race will happen in Sand Springs in 2010. What a change that is. We are sure the local riders will appreciate some time on a track.
As it stands it looks like Yukon BMX will not race this weekend due to 'wet track' conditions. Their website shows 'track closed'.
A few people will be out working at Trosper Park tomorrow. We will not be there early in the morning as we have a few errands to run in the morning.

COOL AND BLUSTERY, SOME SNOW
It wasn't really that cold, just above freezing with overcast skies. Then the wind changed directions, there was some misty sprinkles and then the mist turned to snow and the temps dropped. We had flurries but no heavy snow, since the ground was a little warm the snow melted as soon as it hit the ground. Only above ground objects had snow cover and that cover was minimal.
There are changes in store for BMX racing in Oklahoma for 2010. Some have already happened. Ther has been a change of Track Operators at Sooner State BMX Congrats to Ron Miller, Ron has taken over in Ponca City. We all look forward to seeing Sooner State open for 2010. There has been some changes made to their track since racing stopped in 2009.
It is beginning to look like the has been some progress at Miami BMX According to their website they have a race scheduled for March 13, 2010. Check their website for the lastest info. Of course the racing is there is 'weather permitting'.
Another of our hurtles was cleared today. The road to the new Sooner Pearl has been moving slow for the last several months. Come back soon for the latest info.

ANOTHER COLD DAY
It was another day of not so good news on the weather front. Since we did just bearly make it above freezing today there was a little melting today but what melted did not soak in and the drainage ditches and creeks took all but a little of the melting of our hands. We did have some wind today but this time of year without the sun, wind just can't do much to dry us out. We have more forecast rain or snow coming this weekend and early next week.

IF YOU CLOSED YOUR EYES
To follow the header above with a little imagination it was somewhat nice today as long as you stayed out of the wind. We did have sun today and the wind did help dry us some today. What a change from the last couple weeks. The above freezing day was a nice change and to see things dry a little was also a good thing. The rest of the week is shaping up to not be much help on the drying. Someday we will get some good weather and be able to visit our local tracks for some good time riding.

WORK AHEAD
As things like the weather have not be going much our way lately it is nice to see other things getting done. With all this time inside we have been working on things we have been putting off for a 'rainy day'.
It is beginning to look very much like we have started our early year rainy season very early this year. Our 2 or 3 days of moisture and 2 or 3 days of dry days has been the norm for most of this new year. Another year where our weather will have a major impact on the racing in Oklahoma.

LATE RAIN
So we made it through Saturday without rain but things changed on Sunday. Now it looks like we will have rain on and off most of the night and that will turn to snow tomorrow afternoon and Tuesday. Well the snow thing has at least done one thing and that is soak every inch of dirt in the city. None of this rain is going to soak in and more snow means this place may be soaked for some time to come. What a way to start the racing year!

MORE MELTING
The forecast was for a slight chance of rain today but that didn't happen. We did stay above freezing last night and this morning. The above freezing temps have melted most all of the ice and snow. Even with the warm temps we did not have much drying since the sun was not bright nor did we have much wind. This afternoon was however nice and cool for some outdoor work.

SOPPING WET
Another day of moisture for us today. With some light mist all day and above freezing temps we had a lot of melting today. The ground is saturated with water and some not well drained areas are somewhat like a mud bog. Just like walking on a sponge. Things will be wet for some time considering the weather forecast with more rain or snow ahead on Sunday, Monday and again on Wednesday. Our rainy season may have started early this year.

MANY ACCIDENTS
The day started for many with accidents on the roads and highways. Even with above freezing temps we had much ice from overnight this morning and many found out the hard way to watch for ice on mornings like todays. It was not much different than the last two mornings but many had overlooked the very chance of ice this morning.

MORE FOG AND MELTING
It was well above freezing today but the morning was another day where you needed to remind yourself of the danger of ice on the roadways. We were lucky this morning and no bad accidents happened but the danger was still all to easy to forget. Even though we made it well above freezing the day did not see a real increase in melting since we had almost no sunlight. Only a few times did the sun come burning through the clouds. At least we did get above freezing to melt alway some of this mess.

FREEZING FOG, MELTING
With freezing fog the big thing this morning it turned out to be a day of above freezing temps and that helped melt this mess left over from last weekend. Even with the melting it will be some time till we are able to get close to a BMX track since the ground is so saturated and will get even more so with all the is melting. The ground is like a wet sponge just soaking up more moisture. We will need several days of sunshine and wind to get rid of all this moisture.

NOT ABOVE FREEZING
It was not a pretty sight this morning with freezing fog and ice on many of the roads. The major highways were mostly clear this time around not anything like the days following the Christmas Eve 2009 blizzrd we had. The Christmas event had some much coming down so fast no one would have had a chance to get ahead of that storm. This time they were out working well before the event and it seemed more manageable and managed.
