CONJECTURE AND OTHER THINGS
There was an unique email sent to me the other day.
Some have said I should reply so here is my reply
Dear Rider, Your email was as entertaining to me as it was for you judging from the ending statement. As for your overall statement it reminds me of a 'conjecture' and could even relate to a 'conditional proof'. conjecture. I have put in links to wikipedia.org for those who are not familiar with those terms. At least that is what I think however it may also be a 'counterexample' but I a leaning toward the 'conditional proof'.
Email me any time you need!

DUMPED TRASH CLEANED UP
After the race yesterday we went to Trosper had got a little work done. We had several piles of illegally dumped trash which was cleaned up this weekend and last weekend, we almost filled a 40 yard dumpster. We do still have a little left to pick up but we are at 95% today. We got a little more mowing done today and some other work as well. It was a good day to be out working since it was about 85° which is about 10° cooler than it has been for the last week. All in all we got a lot done this weekend.

SOONER STATE GAMES RACE
So things got off to a slow start at the race today. There was a delay of about a hour to get motos posted, they were posted 5 times before all the corrections were ironed out. It seems Sooner State Games was way short on shirts so many did not get their shirts today. There was only one person representing the Sooner State Games at the race, that was a photographer and we are not sure just who the pictures were for but he did take many pictures. Track concessions was another problem today, no change, run out of drinks, no cold drinks, no hot dog buns. The 10 minute intermission seemed to drag on and was really about 45 minutes. The riders had fun and the racing was great as was the medal awards which was a good change from trophies.

DAY OFF
With all the work getting done in the background we took a day off to get some work done around the house today. We did some work on a surprise item we will be 'looking' at in the near future. Things are starting to pick up a little and we are glad to see some real progress under way on the new track. Now we need to get some dirt to work with.

IN LINE
Today we met with our excavator to talk money and schedule the work. Now we will wait till we have the DEQ permit and this work will start about 10 days later. We will be working to get the drainage and culverts installed then the gravel for the parking area will be delivered. We hope to have OERB out to clean up the abandonded well site during this time. So we may have some heavy construction started in the next couple weeks.

WORK DAY
It was nice to get to Trosper Park without any problems today. We got an early start and made some good head way on mowing and trash clean-up. We mowed about 5-6 acres and filled a 40 yard dumpster half full today. The volunteers who came out to help did a lot of work and had some fun. We even left for home before sundown. As always our volunteers 'kick' and we really appreciate their hard work. We even came up with a nickname for the Dixon riding mower 'Ole Blue'. Mowing is so much better now with this great mower.

PARTIAL WORK DAY
Somehow it seems some of yesterdays luck was around today. After getting ready to leave for Trosper we had a flat on the old trailer. Nail in the sidewall. Just so happens there was no spare so we gingerly drove back to unload everything and reload on the new trailer. It was some work so we did not get much done at Trosper. We did test the new trailer and it is a dream compared to the old trailer.

NO RAIN
We started out the afternoon by going over and getting the Bobcat from our storage area. Then we made a round trip to fill up the tank and get air in one of the tires on the Bobcat. Getting diesel fuel and air at the gas station is hard to do in some parts of town. After 2 stations and a filled tank we then had to go to a 3rd station to get air. It was then time to head to the house for the day. We wanted to get ready to work Saturday.

DAY OF DOING NOTHING
Ever have a day which you have all this work to do but nothing seems to get done? Not only that but we got more rain very early today. Now that we are halfway into the year it is looking like we may have another year like 2007 or 2005 when the area tracks seemed to cancel more than race.
Speaking of races the Double/Double at Sooner State BMX on July 12 and 13 is shaping up to be a heck of a weekend. With a $1000 PRO-AM purse already there is more to come. A list of goodies which will be given away with 50/50, a couple bikes and other nice treats. We will have more details as soon as they are available. Now what to do on Friday?

RAIN AND MORE RAIN
It seems like every other day it has rain in the last month. One thing about not having any dirt is when it rains it is hard to play in the mud! So we had more rain and still more is forecast to come. The grass we do have a Trosper is getting green, that is nice. While we working to get a new track we are looking at the surrounding area. There are places we will not be working on and maybe areas which we will not touch. Since we have many existing critters around we will leave some areas for them. Also we will be moving some existing plants to 'out of danger' places. Back to the critters. We do have deer which live in the area. In our plans we have set aside places for them to eat and drink. Also there are a few native plants which will be either moved or protected during our construction.

REDLINE CUP FINAL CENTRAL
Is it deja vu or what? For 2008 the Redline Cup Final has been awarded to another Missouri track Saint Peters BMX in St. Peters, MO. So with that race awarded is seems all the BIG races of the year have been scheduled with the exception of our State Championship Final. As most of you may already know that race is awarded to the track which generates the most money for ABA each year in each state with ABA tracks. Oh, did we say the track which generates the most money for ABA what we meant was the track which turns in the most new memberships and/or renewals from mid June of last year to mid June of this year. So the 'race' for this RACE is about to be won for 2008. We know one thing for sure about the 2008 Oklahoma State Championship but we have been sworn to keep the secret for a few more days anyway.

SOONER STATE BMX
What a heck of a day of racing today at Sooner State BMX.
Before races started Blake Sams went down on the last straight and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. He was injured but it appears his injury was not real bad. He was poked in the lower right abdomen by the end of his handle bar. Ralph and Blake were to return to town tonight from what we heard. We hope his injury does not keep him off his bike long.
While that was happening the Sign-up computer crashed. A replacement was brought in but all the info had to be keyed in again. It was a lot of work since the only database they had was dated February and most sll the riders had to be entered since most were new riders signed up since Sooner State opened.
So there was a huge amount of first time riders racing today. I saw only 1 One day membership form but I think they had 12 new riders. They had Cruisers and class races with many new Girls but they were Novice Girls who raced Boys classes so there were not Girls only classes.
As we have been saying this new track is HOT STUFF and the people from Ponca City are really getting behind the new track. It is nice to see so much involvement from the local community.
So now the BIG QUESTION is where will the State Championship Final be held? It may just be in Ponca City so if you haven't raced there yet it may be a good idea to make a trip there to check out their track!

WEEKEND WORK?
So about 1:55pm today it was announced some of us will be working Saturday at our regular jobs. With that in mind and with rain falling at 11pm maybe any work with the Bobcat is out of the question as far as Trosper goes. We have a chance of rain for Saturday and Sunday as well so we may not get any time on the Bobcat this weekend. If that happens we will be working to get the last 1st mowing complete and also work on more trash clean up. It will be nice to get everything mowed for the 1st time since most of the property has not been mowed for 20 years or so. It is looking much better and now will look much better every time we work on it!

We did work on the Dixon today, we removed 3 belts and replaced them with new OEM belts. After testing they seemed to work well. MOWER WORK
We are starting to work on the Dixon mower today with the front end getting all the attention today. We replaced both front tires with new tires and tubes. Our old front tires had seen better days and one had a hole about an 1/8 inch across, for a tubeless tire that means no air pressure or a whole lot of Slime and a slow leak. Neither one was a chioce of ours so we replaced the tires. The back tires are in great shape and hold air fine. We are replacing several belts as soon as they come in as well. We already have a set of new blades and we will change the oil and air filters soon.

RAIN, STORMS AND COOLER WEATHER
Early this morning we had a loud, windy and rainy walk up call from none other than Mother Nature. A slow moving line of heavy storms rolled into town this morning just after 2am. Some thought we may have a twister but we did not. The wind and lightining was fast and loud but the rain was not heavy in some areas but then we had a Flash Flood Warning. Just under 3/4 inch of rain fell at the National Weather Service at Will Rogers Airport. The front did bring some cooler air and tonight is forecast to be in the lower 60's for a low. Well the plane made it to China and our rider is in Taiyaun at the hotel as of noon today our time. It was about midnight China time when they arrived and most everything was going smooth. Now to get on the track for a little practice before the racing begins. Since Dennison will be around the USA Cycling team things may be a little familiar even in a strange land.

WORK DAY
Things are going well this week and we got a lot of work done this weekend. Even Murray (our neighbor) was impressed with the amount of work we got to this weekend. A little cleaning, a lot of moving sand and a whole lot of mowing was on the list of jobs for the long weekend. Things really got rolling today with extra helpers and we could see the difference when we left this evening.

WORK DAY
Mowing was on the plate today and we got a bunch of that done till the sun decided to set for the day. After about 8 hours of mowing we had a huge part of the entire property mowed. We still have some to mow and it will take some time since the place hasn't been mowed in 20 years but once it all been knocked down for the first time things will go fast. Already the west side of the track area is looking very good with short green grass filling in the bald spots. Almost hate to build the track with all that nice green grass but a track will be built and we may skim some of the grass to cover where we have been working with the Bobcat.

We have a lot of work ahead but we now have some outside help and maybe things will start picking up speed in the future. We certainly hope so.

HONOR
There has been an unscheduled interruption in the scheme of things.
Once there was a young guy, he wanted to race his bike.
Some years ago this young guy started to make friends as he raced his bike.
As before the time to race is upon him.
His hard work has changed him into a better young man.
Soon he races friends and may make enemies.
He will race for honor.

UCI BMX WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
May 28th thru June 1st 2008
Taiyuan, China
Dennison Smith
USAC #277742
ABA #OK011027
NBL #

Sooner Pearl BMX Raceway would like to officially announce Oklahoma has a racer who will participate in the 2008 UCI BMX World Championship race in Taiyaun, China in one week. Since qualifying in DeSoto, Texas at the USA Cycling National Championship March 29th Dennison and a small group have been working to insure his participation in this Championship race. No one has worked as hard as Dennison to prepare for this race. Currently listed 2 in ABA National Age Group (19-27), Dennison has had a great year already and is poised to be a UCI BMX World Champion. We wish him the best of luck. We know he will be a great representative for our state and Oklahoma BMX.

The year 2008 is shaping up to be a historic year for our sport. As you should know BMX will debut as an Olympic sport in the 2008 Beijing Games. Could we nurture Olympic caliber racers in Oklahoma? This state with a rich heritage of past Olympic greats has the stuff, it has the facilities, events and talent. Now with 4 tracks across the state, BMX in Oklahoma is building again like a time unseen since the 1980's. With the ABA Grand National in Tulsa, the Sooner National in Guthrie, Sand Springs BMX in Sand Springs, Sooner State BMX in Ponca City, Yukon BMX in Yukon, and the soon to be built all new Sooner Pearl BMX Raceway in Oklahoma City, BMX is here to stay.

We would like to thank the following for help to make this possible.

MORE MAP WORK AMONG OTHER THINGS
The old topo map has been drawn and we are working to get out changes made to match our planned layout for the property. One may not thing much about rain water but here it is very important to an outdoor track. Without a good reliable drainage plan the track could take days to dry after a small rain. We want it to work well and will be spending a lot of time on this new map.

It looks like tomorrow we will have some very important news to announce. We have been waiting till everything is in order and this should be complete tomorrow. Are you ready for some of the most important BMX news of 2008?

So who said it was going to be easy?

MAP WORK
Our first step is to get the old topographical map out and make a copy we can work with on the computer. With our drainage plans in place we will show all the dirt work which will be done before the track will be built. Quite a bit of work to get the rain water away from the track, the parking area and the future building location then we will work on the 'pad' where the track will be built.

DRAINAGE MAP WORK
We started to map out what is going to happen at the new location today. As it looks we will be filing a SWPPP or Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan to get our excavation work started. We are not going into detail about this but it will take several days of work to complete the plans and get the required permit to start moving some dirt.

MOWER WORK AGAIN
Today we spent some time working on the Dixon mower. We have not came up with a nickname for it yet but the nickname will be up there with the other mowers we have had out to help with our mowing job both at the old track and now at the new location. Now known as 'KILLA' the old Troybilt walk behind will be used for the small jobs and in tight areas. Since we don't have access to the mower known as 'THE REAPER' our newest mower may follow in its foot steps with a similar name since the Dixon has already shreaded a bunch of the new property. Maybe you can come up with a name for the Dixon?

MOWER REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE
After spending a couple hours out mowing yesterday we found out we needed to do some maintenance to our mower. Loose belts and filter cleaning were first on the list to be addressed. It looks like we will need to purchase a few items as well to get the mower ready for a summer of use.

WORK DAY
We did get out to do some work today and we made good use of our time. Now that our days have warmed up and since we did get some rain this last week the grass has started to grow and we were out putting our newly acquired mower to work today. We have less property to mow at the new location but as always it takes time to knock down the high spots since the property has not been mowed for several years now.

Things are starting to dry out from the rain weh ad earlier this week. Some areas of the property are still quite wet but most of the property is dry now. What little work we have done is already showing improvement to our drainage system.

WHO SHOOK THE TREE?
So we did not work on the track today but we did get some things worked on for the track and we also aquired a mower to help get the grass under control. In the last few years we have not had a lawn service which helped us with the grounds work and mowing. Now that we have a Bobcat we will be able to keep the grounds work up. Today we got one heck of a mower to help keep up with out huge mowing job. Our mower will allow us to mow the entire property in one day and maybe even less than a whole day. What a machine it is and it is in very nice shape as well.

The wind was a 'blowin' today and it must have shook the tree since no one will admit to shaking the tree. So you must be asking what is this all about, well you will find out soon.
Now on to other NEWS items.
DENNISON SMITH
If you are from around here you may know this name already. If you race BMX and happen to race 19-27 Expert then you have lost to him lately. If you were to check NAG points today he is #2 in 19-27 Expert, #1 in OK01 District Points and had strong finishes both Saturday and Sunday at East Coast National and Mid America National in the last 3 weeks. It was time to meet our excavation contractor out on the property to have a look at the project. We will have things ready to move on this in the next couple of weeks and their work should begin. We have many little tasks like this ahead to build the new track and we want things right. ANOTHER 'NON WORK' DAY
We did not work at the track today and there was no calls or other contacts on the track today, we worked at home today. We are hoping to get some time in the coming weekend if things dry out enough to get into the property. Our drainage work will insure access and an area for parking soon. Once the ditches and culverts are installed we will get some parking area to work on so we can access the property even after rain, that will be nice for us and the contractors we will have coming in for work in the near future.

MORE RAIN TODAY
What a day we had wind and rain but things were not on the wild side with no tornadoes around here anyway. Most of us took the day off and rested for the coming work increase ahead. We are looking to contact an electrical contractor next week to get things rolling on power for the property. We will be meeting with our excavation contractor Friday afternoon and hope to have an estimate in hand in 10 days to go forward with this work on the ground dirt work. Work will begin soon after that and we will have the area for the track clean and ready for track building to begin, now to get some dirt...

MEETINGS
Now that we have contacted an excavating contractor and plumbing contractor the meetings with them are about to start. We hope to have some real construction starting in the next few weeks with them. We are still looking for more dirt and hope to have some on site soon. We will not have much in the way of free dirt since the property has been cleared on any useable dirt which means we will have to furnish all dirt we will be using for the track and out new building.

DRAINAGE?
Today did start the meetings with our excavating contractor. If all goes as planned we will be meeting soon on site and things will start rolling as soon as we can get in the schedule and Mother Nature lets us have a few days to dry out so work can begin. Now we will be working closely to really make some progress on the initial building steps.
We did get a heck of a rain today. It started about 2am and stopped about 8pm. The entire county is under a Flash Flood Warning so thats talks a lot about how much rain we had today. Tornadoes? well if you listened to the weather forecasters we had some of them around as well today so Mother Nature was at work today!

Now we did not work at the track today but we did have a meeting today with a plumbing contractor to arrange the site inpection and get rolling on one of our 3 required items 'water'. Remember back when we said we need 3 items to get things in line to build the track, well one item is on the way. It will be some time but now we will be working to get the other 2 items lined out as well. Maybe our luck is about to change?

WORK DAY
Another day of paying in the dirt today with more leveling and looking at where and how things will be situated around the track. We hope to have more help coming with many things in the near future but time will tell. We are now working with the City Streets Department to get help with our drainage plan. We will be talking to an excavating contractor this week to get the meetings started and that work should be going soon. That is one item we will be farming out and will be done by professionals. We may also have them do our heavy equipment work as well.

HEAVY STORMS
What an evening we had today with the afternoon looking good and then the rules changed and the weather demanded some attention. A huge black cloud came bearing down over the eastern half of Oklahoma City and it was not a nice cloud at all. First came some light rain then some pea sized hail then about 5 minutes of hail about tennis ball sized. Many car windows and windshields were knocked out and anything out in the open did get hail dents from this storm. Thankfully it did not drop any tornadoes here in the city area but that was not the case to the northeast of Oklahoma City.

After several hours on the phone to get the web site back up it still seems to get everything working took about 24 hours to correct. Our email and a few other items were still not working until afternoon today. So again we have to say the internet is great but then it is not working it can be a real pain and it can take a long time to get everything working again. Well the clouds came and have now gone. We did get some rain but not enough to stop us from working at Trosper this coming weekend barring more rain that is. We did get some rain and rumblings of thunder with lightning but most of this stuff missed the City and what we did get was gone in a few minutes. The storms formed south and west of the City but moved so fast it was almost a non event. WHAT IS NEXT?
So we only thought we had the trailer finished for the Bobcat. It seems there was a minor wiring problem which turned into a headache to figure out. Now it is fixed and things are going to not cause blown fuses in the tow truck. It only took about 10 hours of troubleshooting and reworking of some wiring. We got some bad info on the wiring and that was the root cause of our problem.
Sunday was a WORK DAY and we got a little work done. We also got some free dirt to use for fill as well so the day was good. Murrays ditch got a major rework but we did not finish yesterday and was not able to go today due to the trailer wiring problem. We may be out to finish Tuesday afternoon. Anyway the Bobcat is sweet and it is going to come in handy.

We hope to have dirt soon and this will come in steps as well. Fill dirt to level then dirt for the track.
Straight from the mouth of Steve Arrowood, Sand Springs has changed their Sign Up time on Friday to 6:30-7:30pm. But seriously their web site has been updated and you could have known this if you visited their nice web site. Jack has done a job on their site and it shows. I wonder if he is cheap?

WORK TODAY WORK TOMORROW
We did some clean-up today at the east end of the property. We have a strip of cleared land about 50 feet wide between us and our neighbor. Today we mowed and gathered the brush and broken limbs from the Ice Storm. Things look a lot better now and Murray was very impressed with our work. Tomorrow we will be working on ditches and drainage. Funny how it just works out since Murry has been after the City to do some work on the front of his property but it seems he has been forgotten. LITTLE TRAILER WORK, RAIN TODAY
The work got started late today thanks to Mother Nature. Not a lot of rain but enough to keep us wet if we worked very long. The lights are complete and have been checked, the trailer brakes have not been tied together but only 3 connections are needed to complete that item. So the trailer is about ready for the road and we have been wanting to find a job for it to exercise our trailer.

TRAILER WORK NEAR COMPLETION
We had some trouble today but the work continued on our trailer. A new wiring harness was built and installed, not all the lights got hooked up. One of the brake units had some problems which meant we had to buy more parts today. We did get one side of the trailer inspected and our bad hub was replaced with new bearings and seals. The brake assembly was moved from the front axle to the back axle and most of the lights were wired up. Now on to the right side axle, hub and brake inspection to complete the job.

LITTLE TRAILER WORK TODAY
Today we took it easy and did a little work on the trailer. We got a late start due to some other work which needed to be done in a hurry. After the hurry up rush work was completed the trailer did get some attention. We finished welding the deck up. The back end was rewelded and our marker rear marker light bracket was welded on then had to be removed due to light mounting problems, those problems were fixed and we checked the wiring of the light plug on the truck and the wiring harness for the trailer was next on the list. Things are starting to look much better now.

TRAILER WORK CONTINUES
Today we got several things fixed on the trailer. The broken angle at the back of the trailer was straightened and rewelded. Some material was removed from the back of the trailer. New trailer light brackets were installed. Some of the deck was removed and rewelded. There is still more material to be removed, a side marker light bracket to be welded on and the new lights installed. All new wiring will be installed. The electric brakes will also be inspected and rewired. Safety chains will be installed and new ramps will be built, the trailer will then be complete.

THEFT AT THE OLD SOONER PEARL
So after the work we saw yesterday on the gate at Sooner Pearl guess what? Today the gate was gone. Either late yesterday or before noon today the person or persons who sawed the hinges of the gate came back and took it today. Just remember you did not steal from us you stole from the State Government. Whoever steals items from the old Sooner Pearl after December 15, 2007 are thieves and should not be trusted. Maybe other tracks should watch out!

WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
If you walked to the door of your favorite store and noticed the door was unlocked but you knew the store was closed would you walk in and take what you wanted?
Today a few of us went to the old Sooner Pearl and to our suprise it seems someone is working to steal the gate. The old track belongs to the Government and has since December 15, 2007. Stealing from this property is a CRIME. Want a PRISON vacation? Maybe be on TV, make the headlines of the local paper, get some pretty chrome bracelets?
Who would want to steal an 8 man BMX gate?

WEATHER IN THE TANK
The day started out nice but today was like many here in Oklahoma nice in the morning but trashed by nightfall. We had a Cold Front move in today and the temps dropped fast and we got a brisk north wind to boot. Nothing like a little reminder that the weather changes at the drop of a hat here. So once again we have a chance of rain over the weekend but many will be in DeSoto Texas racing in the Super National this weekend. Good Luck to those making the trip!

VERY NICE WEATHER
Today the weather was even better than yesterday and yesterday was a great day. It looks like our work on the BOBCAT tires yesterday seems to have done the trick, at least the tire was not flat today! Well things are looking up for material for the new track and we will be getting more to the property soon. Oh as soon as the trailer is prepared to haul something other than the BOBCAT anyway. We have had a few donations and there are some more waiting to be picked up now. SInce it looks like our posts and cable will not be here for a while we may be out working on the driveway and drainage next week if Mother Nature allows.

WHAT A DAY OF WORK
Starting out with a flat tire can make for some work for a day. We fought for several hours to reseat the bead on one of the new tires on our newly acquired BOBCAT yesterday but in the end the tire was fixed. Then we used the little beast for the first time to moved some equipment around for BASCO. If you are not aware of who BASCO is they are becoming a name who you may hear a small rumble about in the BMX arena and elsewhere. They have been working in the print business for years and are becoming a local OKC business with ties to BMX. Making screen printed shirts for BMX related business' and tracks is getting to be a part of their work. They also make banners, wraps and many other items. Some of the owners even race BMX!

GREAT WEATHER
Mother Nature has once again shown her good side and given us some real nice weather this week. A little on the windy side but nice none the less with upper 60s or lower 70s most of the week. Now if we can get the weekends to be this nice. Our neighbors to the north and northeast has some major rain events in the last week which has put a damper on races and generated more work on their tracks from water erosion.

FIRST MAJOR PURCHASE
As things start to wind up on the construction of the new track we have made our first major purchase. Today we bought a used BOBCAT 753 for use to work on the property and track. The trailer we got in the deal is not the best and will need some work. We will be working to get the trailer in good working order this week. Soon we will be out making major changes to the property and getting our first tasks complete. We will be on the look out for another trailer if the price is right. If you know someone with a heavy duty trailer let us know.

MOWING TODAY
Today we went out and mowed at Trosper Park. We got the west side from the entrance west near 400 feet mowed back 15 feet from the sidewalk/trail. We did not get the mess cleaned up but it is mowed. Next we will be working on east of the entrance and get it mowed back 15 feet as well. Maybe tomorrow we may be out working if we don't have a busy day visiting with family. We have much work to be done just to get things cleaned up on the property. The Ice Storm last December caused a huge amount of damage to the trees, our estimates are there is 1000 hours of work just to clean up that mess. That will be in addition to building a track on property which is no developed, no water, sewer, electric etc.

NEW HITCH AND ELECTRIC BRAKE CONTROL
That says it all we now have a new Class 4 receiver type hitch and a new electronic trailer brake controller now installed on our tow vehicle. Next we will get the trailer. We will have to do some minor work on it but we will be able to use it even without the work completed. Now we will have to get something to haul on the trailer. It looks like we will have a few items next week to try this trailer out. Now if we could get those posts and cable delivered. Then we could get some real work going then.

TOW VEHICLE REPAIRED
Today our tow vehicle was repaired and now has a new clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing and release cylinder. Our hope is to have a receiver hitch, trailer light hook-up and electric brake set-up installed Friday. Once these are completed we will be ready to pick-up the trailer. We will then be ready to start work at Trosper. We will be working on drainage for the entrance and for the parking area. We are still waiting for our posts and cable to be delivered to the site. Once the posts are delivered we will need a full day to bore the post holes due to the bedrock at this location, the holes may not be bored on the same day as the delivery of this material. Until we get the holes bored we will work on drainage and clean up of illegally dumped trash which has been there since before we got the lease. The Parks Department will furnish a dumpster for removal of this trash.

MORE RAIN TODAY
After starting late yesterday the rain has just kept coming today. We had a mix of light to heavy rain most of the day with the rain stopping about 7pm. About 1.75 inches of rain fell at the National Weather Service in the last 24 hours. We have a slight chance for more rain but it looks like the front has moved to the southeast of Oklahoma City so that may not happen. Our weekend forecast has a chance of rain as well on Saturday and Sunday. As always this will change before the weekend gets here.

Our hope is to get the vehicle back from the shop late this week and we will need to have a trailer hitch installed. We plan to have this done this week so we can start working with our trailer maybe this weekend. Once we have the hitch we will be able to move equipment and dirt to the new track location.

As the days go by this week we have had progressively better and better weather but things look like they may change soon. Earlier in the week our wethaer forecast had rain on Thursday and Friday, now this has changed to Friday and Saturday. Our temps have increased this week but are to go down again and may kinda level off around 60° on Saturday. Our freezing nights are gone for the next few days which means it is about time for the grass to start getting in gear for the year.

Sunday was a great day for BMX in Oklahoma. With 54 riders and 15 motos there was a good turn-out for Sooner State BMX's opening race day. The weather could not have been any better about 60° and almost no wind. Now that Sooner State BMX is up and running and with about 30 new members already signed up they are going to be a BIG FACTOR in the work to build rider count in Oklahoma. THANK YOU Ponca City! It was fun! Thank you also to the many out of STATE riders who came to enjoy their new track.

MORE COOL WEATHER
Well what can be said about weather in our SPORT. Weather can be a big factor to a rider out on a track racing in a wind. Smaller riders have been stopped when riding into a strong wind. Also for obvious reasons rain, cold and heat are important factors of weather. Mother Nature is an important factor in our sport, she determines when and if we race and is a large reason for moisture at an outdoor track.

Not to diminish all the work being done as we have a few people looking to get donations and we are also working on a couple Grants. Not all work we are doing will be visible for some time but we are making headway.

Grants. Something at lot of organizations use to expand and improve their facilities and organizations. OKBMXPA has been looking into several Grants to help fund the relocation of Sooner Pearl to Trosper Park. We will be adding a page to the web site soon which will list Grants and help with any information for a Grant we have. Most may not know but the new track in Amarillo, Texas has raised over $100k in Grant money in the last 18 months. It is not very often when we get on the personal side here on the HOT NEWS page. Since most don't know today is Ricky Axtell's (my youngest son) last day as a civilian. Monday he will ship out to California to start his Marine Boot Camp. For the next 13 weeks he will work hard and become a US Marine. If you know him you know he will do well. Needless to say he will not be racing here for a long time.
GOOD LUCK!  Ricky Axtell, US MARINE
Local news
We have been working to get the dirt we will use to build the track donated. There is a need for a lot of dirt to say the least. About 1/3 of which will be used to fill and level an area for the track. Most of the property has very little dirt, most of the dirt we will use must be trucked in. It is strange that there was a BMX track here but there is very little dirt or any signs of a track except old tires which could have been dumped any time in the last 20 years.

It was another day which was nice today. We had a good time enjoying the beautiful weather while it lasted. So the Sun was out, it was not that windy and we had some very mild temps for today. The evening brought back the cold again and it looks like we will be cold and possibly rainy for a few days then we get more warm weather. So things will start to wind up this coming week. Hoping for more good weather.

MORE WORK AHEAD
The opening weekend for Sooner State BMX may have been cancelled due to weather but work continues. With their gate now mounted and electrical final inspection on schedule the track is coming along. Since they got a heavy rain the other day it was time to look at drainage. They will have little work to do to correct their problems and that will be another important item cleared off the list.
Now on to local news. Their seems to be a little push underway to get started on the NEW Sooner Pearl track. We have a couple meetings scheduled next week to get problems solved so we can start construction. Now we just have that matter of dirt............

SOONER STATE CANCELS 1st RACE DAY
So Mother Nature is not a friend on occasion and it looks like this may be one to write about. Early this morning the race at Sooner State BMX for this coming Sunday has been cancelled. Well this just means Matt, Travis and their volunteers have another week to work their butts off to get their new track better for their 1st race. It won't be long now and they are already talking about February 17th.

SNOW TODAY?
After all it is Oklahoma and the weather is a question from hour to hour. Our weather forecast is changing and we have a chance of snow today, small chance could mean a foot of snow? So enough about todays weather what is in store for the weekend? Now it looks good with partly cloudy and mid 50's.
Now we are very fortunate in Oklahoma since we have 2 National events here each year. With the opening of Sooner State BMX and the soon to be new Sooner Pearl BMX Raceway, Oklahoma will be back in a position not seen for many years. Four ABA tracks operating. Now for the fun part.....
Could there be another track in the future? Is there a push to go beyond 4 tracks and what will this do to the balance of power?

Rumor has it...
Another track rebuild?
4 newly rebuilt tracks in Oklahoma.
What happens?

GETTIN' DIRTY
After many years one learns to appreciate the words 'How time flies'. Speaking of flies. What do flies do when it is hot and there is a big pile of fresh cow @#$% ready to hover around? Thats right they fly around and generally make a nuisances, right? A buzz here and a buzz there. So you must be asking what does this have to do with BMX? Well not much if you are thinking of buzzing from flies. Soon the buzz will be clear and you will know it is not the buzz of flies. BUZZ, BUZZ
Oh, have you looked at the Trosper Park page lately?

SNOW ON THE WAY
So we have been a full day after the Sooner National and it is still a HOT topic for some. The Oklahoma riders did very well this year, again. The track was another very different track and once again we were blessed to have great weather and great visitors.

ALL OVER BUT THE COMIN' HOME
So the racing is over and there were some real winners this weekend. With 153 motos today it did not slow much from yesterday. The weather was great we are sorry some have to go north home to snow and all that fun stuff. One item we must talk about were the parents and riders this weekend. What a nice group of people. Also our volunteers which made everything better, they sold 50/50 and shirts to help raise money for our new track.
Special thanks to our out of town volunteers. Without them we could not have had a much fun and a great giveaway to boot.
Zoe Meeusen-Norris
Zaden 'The Ice Man' Meeusen
Marcina Norris
Star City BMX and Lincoln Nebraska has some great young people to be proud of and we do thank them for their help. Good Luck!
Thanks to Yukon BMX for sharing their EZ UP this weekend.
Have a safe trip home everyone and thank you for coming to Oklahoma to race!

WHAT A DAY
Things were as most National events are, lots of people trying to win and have some fun as well. For each winner we have losers as well. There was 157 motos of hot racing today. There was crashing and great riding all along the way. Family fun with some people there just to watch and learn about our sport of BMX. Results have been posted, a link to todays and yesterdays races are below.
Rumor has it...
Sand Springs BMX may start racing the end of March, first of April.
It will be nice to see them open and racing again.

DAY BEFORE
So there are a few pictures of the track floating around on the net. We will try to get some links to them later today. We are working to get some video taken today posted here.
The weather proved to be cold, windy and slippery but the amount of snow and ice was way under the estimates. Most all the roads are clear. Today the back roads to the arena had a very little bit of packed snow. Things are looking good for nice weather this weekend.

WINTER WEATHER
Are you wanting to arrive early for the Sooner National you may want to check the weather ahead. Things are looking like Winter in a big way if one listens to the weather forecasters. The weekend still looks good but till then is looking bad to worse. There is a possiblity of snow and as much as 1-2 feet of snow north of Guthrie on Thursday. Friday morning may be fun as well, but it looks much better after morning when it gets above freezing and melts everything.

SOONER NATIONAL AHEAD
It appears the Sooner National is building today. With phone calls and email the words are flying and the building has started. Once again both Sooner Pearl BMX and Yukon BMX will be selling 50/50 for the weekend. There will be a 'Raffle Bike' to help raise money for Emery Park BMX out of Wichita. Now what is next? What will the track be like this year? What other things could happen? It looks like the weekend may be a lot more than just racing in 2008.

SO THE WEATHER?
Today is was cold but not as cold as it will be in 24 more hours. Today the outlook for the weekend is good. You have to remember in Oklahoma if you 'stick around the weather will change'. Now we look at lower to upper 50's and just above freezing in the evenings.

STAKES AND MUD
No not the kind of steak you eat, the kind you drive in the ground. In particular the kind used to locate places on a construction site. Oh well yes it will be a construction site in every way. Where once was open space will be a track.
When will this happen?
Fill the short list.
The short list is WATER, ELECTRIC and DIRT. Sounds easy. Only get 25 gallons per minute of water, either 1200 feet of line or a well. Electric is the easy one, can an electrian and OG&E. Then there is the matter of getting 6000 cubic yards of dirt (900 tons?) for the track and 1500 yards for fill (225 tons?). WOW that would be a lot of trips for a half ton truck.....
As for the mud part we played in the mud today, a ditch was in order to drain the only puddle on the property.

BMX IN OLYMPICS NEWS
So we found the links to watch video of some of the US riders training for the BMX team. The first video is on the old Practice track which was not near the track which will be used in the Olympics. The second video shows the ribbon cutting and riders on the new Practice track. The new track is built the same as the real track in China. Not your everyday track to say the least, big, fast and ugly. The crashes will be something to watch with the speed the riders will hit. The only permanent Supercross BMX facility in the USA.

SOURCES FOR DIRT
Now we see it everyday, we walk on it like it is nothing, we throw it in trash cans, plastic bags, vaccum cleaner bags and some make mud pies. All that dirt is a real nuisance if you like things clean but to a BMXer it is what we live to race on and have fun. What a dirty sport it is. A BMX track takes several thousand cubic yards of dirt, Sooner State BMX used about 5000 yards to build their new track. Have you some dirt to donate to a bunch of people who love dirt?

SPEND MORE MONEY
It seems that to 'Spend more money' is what we hear all the time now. In the process of building a new track we would like to get donations from outside the BMX community. We will however be making some items available for sale to help raise money and to give those who do spend their money a good value for their money so we all win. Needless to say we will be spending money to get the new track started and ready for racing. It is going to take some time but we are chipping away most every day.

Just a little 'slippin n slidin' this morning. For the most part the streets were salted overnight and were not bad. The back streets however were a different store till late in the day. Well things were very cold to just cool today here in Oklahoma City. The morning was 18 and a brisk north west wind, the afternoon was clear and sunny with little wind and 48. Any day now we will hear what a lot of people have been waiting a long time to hear. 'OK RIDERS SET THEM UP.............

Once again we will be meeting at the Lazy 'E' arena for one of the 1st ABA National events, the Sooner National. We now have a plan for Trosper Park, a new BMX track is on the way. Now that Sooner State BMX is well on their way we are now focusing on Trosper. Stakes have been driven, plans have been submitted to secure the land and start some light construction. Much of the heavy work will be some time off. We are starting to get momentum now as the work is winding up in Ponca City. We are behind those guys in more ways than one.

CLOSER AND CLOSER
Well things are starting to move now and there is some real work ahead but most already know what is ahead. As the days roll by things are getting those first small steps out of our way and the big steps are just around the corner. In a few weeks things will bust open and we will have our hands full. What are we talking about, oh no not Trosper Park. It is looking like the track to the north is getting much closer to opening and we are starting to see major work getting finished. What a job they are doing. It won't be long now till we can quit asking.....
WE CAN WE RACE?

TROSPER PARK
Now that we have been working to get things off the ground at Trosper Park it seems there are some who are very intersted in what is starting there. A couple of us where out working today and we had a couple visitors while we were hard at work. Seems there are several horse riders who have been riding in the area for some time now and when we are out working we are getting to know our neighbors. Only bad things is they leave those big piles of horse 'fertilizer'. Maybe we can use it to green up all the grass we have around the track land. At least it is cheap for us.

BMX IN OKLAHOMA
Now that the news is out it looks like things are really changing on the BMX FRONT in Oklahoma. The ICE STORM of 2007 has CLOSED Sand Springs BMX and word is they may not race for some time to come. Sooner Pearl is currently closed for our relocation. Sooner State BMX is getting closer to their (as of yet) scheduled opening date. News on Sooner State BMX and an opening date will be arriving in a few days. Word has it the 'TARGET' date is approaching fast, the track is looking good and has vastly improved since we visited back on December 1st 2007.

WHAT IS HAPPENING?
Since the Sooner National is just around the corner it is time to start preparing for this big race and the race season ahead. Looking for points? The Sooner National would be a place to get a good start in getting those 2008 points started.
Wichita Kansas has been in the news and they are getting some news coverage from local TV and radio. We are sure they like the promotion but it would better under different circumstances. They are working hard and their community is coming together due to their vandalism and theft. Is there a move in the future for Emery Park BMX? Sometimes a better neighborhood can make a huge difference. There are however people who think taking another person(s) or business' property is fine because of need or want. When is this work good for anyone?

While it appears there has not been much work at Trosper Parl to get the new track started things are working in the background. We are well on our way to have some real work start in the near future. We have already talked to a contractor to get a well drilled on the property. We will have to submit plans for all work to the Oklahoma City Parks Department for their approval before our work can start.

STAKES ANYONE?
Since the weather has been so nice a couple of us did go out to work at Trosper Park this weekend. Most of the work was to start preparing for dirt to be delivered and to start the work of getting things leveled out where the track will be located. Not hard work but work which has to be done to get rolling. It will take some time....

NICE WEATHER
Well for once it was nice all weekend and we did not have any moisture coming down. A little on the windy side but we made it to the 70's today so it was great weather to be outside. Most of us were out cutting or removing tree branched from our little Ice Storm. Even today there are still thousands of homes with tree remains laying in the front yard to be made into mulch and carted off. Anyone need a lifetime supply of fire wood?

GOOD, BAD AND UGLY
Well the weather was good for the beginning of WINTER. It was fairly warm with a little bit of wind but overall it was nice. The races were great for the first race of 2008. We had a chance to see a few people we had not seen for some time. Good to see Dale Merriman back on his feet! It was nice to see everyone today out supporting BMX in Oklahoma.
While at Yukon BMX today the phone calls started rolling in about the break in at Emery Park BMX. Things were looking bad and getting worse but late in the evening it sounds like they have it under control now. What happened was ugly for us all. It take a major effort to operate a track and to have to overcome hurdles like this can be a big pain and cost a lot of money.

BIG NEWS
Some time tonight we will have the privelege of seeing for the first time the NEW SIGN for Sooner State BMX which is now installed at their track. We got word this afternoon from Matthew 'pictures will be on the site tonight'. The sign is sweet!
Along those lines we also hear the track in Ponca City is getting closer every day to setting an Opening Date. Those folks got a blessing in disguise with all the snow, sleet, ice, freezing rain and other moisture. Now that the weather has warmed above freezing the track has had a gang of people working. Sounds like I must ask again.
WHEN CAN WE RACE?

COLD AND WINDY
OK another day of weather that would make anyone want to just stay inside. We must say it was bittery cold and windy. We did have a few slick spots on the road. Just not a nice day however the rest of the week looks much better after today. I'm sure as much as the wind has been blowing it may be a windy weekend but the weather is forecast to be nice for Winter.

COLD WITH WARM FEELINGS
The second day of the year reminded us it is Winter in Oklahoma. Funny thing this time was the bittery cold wind was coming from the south not the north as one may expect. But the cold was not on our minds as much as what happened over the New Years Holiday. We just had a great time at Cowtown BMX.

NEW YEARS FUN
Can a group of BMXers ever leave on a trip on schedule? If only trips had an 'EASY BUTTON'. While waiting we had a few laughs at why we were late and got on the road. After we got to Ft. Worth and to Cowtown BMX it seemed as if it took no time to get there. WOW Cowtown is some track! At 1300 looooong feet it took some good old crankin' to get to the Finish line. We had a great time, can we make it next year? For that much fun, lets see. I think we can! What a great time, did I say that again? Could not say it enough. What a great group of people, race there soon! To Shawna, Allan, Paw-Paw and everyone Thank You.

Get a few hours sleep the off to Desoto..........
Without a doubt a rider grabbing track. This would be the first and last time on this track for some. With a track rebuild early next month things are going to change here soon but the turns and starting hill. There was a of racing going on today. We met some really good people and had local riders on the track which made the races better. Brady Turnbill got a 1st place today, watch out Intermediates he is coming soon. A great little guy and FAST! It was a little cool all day but the racing and fun made up for that many times over.
Maybe we can get everyone at Cowtown and DeSoto to come race soon?

LOOK BACK
It is nearing the end of 2007. The 2007 GRANDS are history and the end of the Regular Race season is around the corner. Now is when we start to Look Back at the year.
