NOT YET
What will happen on January 1st? Sooner Pearl will not announce till tomorrow morning if we will cancel our race. Our track is drying nicely and we still have a chance to get it in shape. The clouds have moved away and our humidity is low with a good wind and that is what is needed to dry the track enough to race. We will announce about 10am in the morning.
We want to wish everyone a Happy New Year today. We also want to give a little THANKS to Brian's ATV for the 4 wheeler for our track. What a smokin' deal we got and with it we will be better able to keep the track in shape and we will be using it tomorrow to get ready to start 2007.

NUMBER PLATES
The age old question for new ABA riders. When do we change our number plate? OK, so don't get in such a hurry. The year is not over just yet, Year end may be a time of no races for a couple weeks but behind the scenes it is anything but the end of anything. We must wait till all the point have been verified and totalled (we are depending on people for this and people do make mistakes). Keep that number plate on for a little longer, it will be a while till ABA tells everyone the points are final. Then the new number plates can be mounted.

RAIN TODAY
Today the weather started out looking good but that changed as the clouds moved in and the rain started coming down. At first it was just a very light rain (we are still needing this rain) and the dust was starting to settle. Oh....then we got the heavy rain with thunderstorms. It was still very warm for the end of December (the beginning of Winter) and the wind was still blowing at a good clip. It is not looking good for the 1st. race of 2007.

IS RAIN ON THE WAY?
OK, the day started out nice and we did have some wind today but not like yesterday. In the afternoon that started to change with clouds moving in and the wind slowed to about 15mph. It looks like we will have some rain moving into town early on Friday morning. Our forecast has 100% chance of rain on Friday night, here in Oklahoma 100% means it will rain or we have about a 10% chance of rain. It may stop 1 mile from the track!

NICE WEATHER IF YOU LIKE WINDY
The weather was nice today and if the wind wasn't blowing at 30mph it was down right nice with a high near 60°. Things had a good chance to dry out with the wind and lots of sunshine.
More work for the relocation of Sooner Pearl was on tap this week. It looks like we may have some better info on when we will have to move. More on this as we get it.

DRY TRACK
We now have a dry track and it does not look that bad. If we don't get much rain this week we may be able to race on January 1st. Things are starting to work to the opening on a new race year. Things being as they are we will be racing on Sundays only after January 1st with Sign ups from 1-2pm.

MORE RAIN IN THE FORECAST
The weather forecast now has rain for the coming week. If this rain makes the city we will have a wet track for the beginning of the year. It looks like our last week of this year will end with rain and possibly some snow on the ground. We will have to wait to see what happens.

STILL WET
The track is still wet and we have had at least one rider who wanted to get some muddy tires and shoes. Now it seems we have a little more work to do to get the track ready for racing. We should have a few nice days ahead and the track may dry out during the week.

CHRISTMAS AHEAD
With little time to do that last minute shopping the Holiday is upon us. Things are cool but the Monday (Christmas Day) forecast is for a possibility of snow with a high of about 45°.
With very little sun today the track is still very wet. Our current forecast has rain on Tuesday and Wednesday, cloudy on Thursday and 46°. With this in mind we may not race on January 1st. due to track conditions. This time of year it takes 3-4 days for the track to dry with the low temperatures.

STILL COLD AND DAMP
Our weather was at least dry today but with most of the day being cloudy the track is still very wet for our last rain. There was no standing water on the track but it was very wet and muddy.
More work is going on for the highway project with heavy demolition of all the buildings in the path on Western Ave.

NO HEAVY RAIN
The rain has now slowed to more of a drizzle and the heavy rain has passed the city. It was very foggy most of the morning and very cloudy the rest of the day. Things are very wet and will be for a few days. There was very little damage to the track from the heavy rain. The turns did get some minor damage due to run off water. The rest of the track does not look bad but does have standing water.

HEAVY RAIN TODAY
We had some rain late last night with much heavy rain early this morning. We have had more than 1 inch of rain so far in the last 24 hours here at the track. As you may imagine the track is very wet with much standing water. It will take quite a few days for this to dry but we did not have much rain damage.

COOL BUT DRY
It was cool again today and we have rain on the way. Looks like we will get some rain late today with heavy rain to make it here later. We could use the rain as it has been very dry and this is a good time to get it since we are not racing currently.
More construction or really demolition has started around Western Ave. and the vacant buildings will come down this week. Soon we will have a great view for the street of the track as most everything is cleared both north and south of the track.

CONSTRUCTION
We are watching the construction around the new highway project start to wind up. With much work going on to get the required dirt and to finish clearing the land of the path of the highway. Some work has already started on the west side of the river where the east most work will take place. This work is over 1 mile from the track but this marks the start of heavy construction. There are a couple places where piles are being driven to prepare for the building of a bridge over the river, this will be the beginning of the project from the east.

GREAT WEATHER
Not to many times do we have a day like today not to mention it is very near the beginning of Winter. With the high near 75°, a light wind from the south and sunny skies we had great weather again today. As said our weather forecast now has rain moving in on Sunday evening and possibly lasting till Wednesday evening now. Looks like the temperature will stay well above freezing so we should have a great opportunity to work on the track some next weekend (if we get all our Christmas shopping done before the weekend).

Sooner Pearl is looking for a cheap 4 wheeler or if you know someone who would like to donate one please contact us. We need to have a working machine to keep the track in good riding condition.

RAIN HEADED OUR WAY
OK, so the weather is good and it seems will be good till Sunday. Now our forecast for next week is going down hill fast with rain in the picture till at least Tuesday and maybe even Wednesday. Rain in the off season with somewhat warm weather means work on the track time. With rain coming it will be important to look at drainage.

NICE TODAY
Our weather was again nice today with warm temps and little wind. Since this is the next to last day of the race season we want to say THANK YOU to all who came to Sooner Pearl during our 2006 season. We also want to say sorry for the missed races these last few weeks, things have been very hectic. As it looks now we will continue to operate our current track through 2007. We have still had no communications with any authorities regarding closing Sooner Pearl, but there is construction for the new highway going ahead today.

DRY AND NICE TODAY
It was not a usual December day today. Working outside today was a day to break a sweat out in the sunny weather. As it was today it seems Mother Nature has blessed us with some great weather. We have more on tab for the weekend. It would be nice to race once more, to bad the track is not in shape for racing.

SUN AGAIN
A dry and fairly nice day today. Our forecast is for some really nice days ahead at least till the end of the weekend. Some of the days ahead are going to be days of work for the staff at the track. We have now seen a majority of the work for the power lines completed now with only the old towers to be cleared. The lines are up and all the construction by OG&E near the track is now finished. No more bull dozers on the track!

AGAIN WARMING UP
What crazy weather we are having no rain, warming up and December. It does look like we will have a few good days left this week ending with a great weekend. We hear the rebuild of the track at Sand Springs BMX is nearly finished and they are hoping to race Friday. Check their web site for more info for the real last race of the year in Oklahoma.

CLOSING TODAY
Sooner Pearl will close for the season today. We have not been able to do much racing for a while now and we will close and get it over. We will continue to work for the track and around the track to get things ready for the 2007 race season.

GETTING BETTER
Only a week ago it was real winter, today it is near Spring time weather. My how things do change here. Speaking of changes there are some real changes in the works and we will have more info in a fews weeks, stay tuned for some real news about Sooner Pearl.

COLD AGAIN
Things are supposed to clear off today and we may warm up. A slow warming trend till the weekend is what they are saying. What a way to close the season with great weather. Looks like Sand Springs BMX will try to get in a last race of the year. Check their web site for the most current info on the Friday race (a link is at the top of this page).

WET AND COLD
The weather has gotten colder and we have some moderate north wind. No snow ice or rain but the bottom dropped out on the temperature. As for the track it is still very wet from the snow and since we have only had 3 days above freezing it is now drying fast.
It is beginning to look like we will not race again this year. With more cold weather in the next few days the track will not dry enough to race. Remember we will open on January 1st 2007 for the first race of 2007.

SUN AGAIN
Most of the snow and ice is gone now and things are turning back normal winter weather. As a matter of fact it was down right nice today with our high of the day at 58° with nice sunshine all day. The track is still very muddy and we still have a few wet places. Most of the track is in pretty good shape just very wet.

WARMING UP
The weather has warmed up today and it is above freezing this afternoon and most of our snow and ice are beginning to melt away. Late today the track still has standing water and much of the track is soft and muddy. We have a couple good days of weather ahead then things are forecast to turn very cold with a chance of moisture of some kind.

BETTER WEATHER AHEAD
All the ice and snow has now melted off the track as of late today. All the track is wet and muddy with some places covered by standing water. We have a warmer day on tap for tomorrow and the track may start drying a little but this is winter and here that means 3-4 days for the track to dry if we are above freezing.

NO RACE TODAY
Sooner Pearl will not race today due to the wet track we have. Our schedule for 2006 is coming to an end. With only one weekend left things are not looking good for the rest of the year. Even if we don't have another chance to race again this year it has been a good year. Considering in 2005 we only races 17 times, we did much better this year as Mother Nature was a little more kind in 2006.

SUN AGAIN
OK so it did stop snowing and the sun came out today but the track was still covered with snow. Even with the 41° high for today there was not much snow melting off anywhere except the roads. With a wet track we will be able to ride the track for a few days and we may not be able to dry it out before next weekend. We will have to wait and see.

ABA RIDERS TO COMPETE
Well in case you haven't heard in is official now. With the election of Clayton John elected to the Board of Trustees and BA Anderson elected to the Board of Directors of USA Cycling it seems ABA riders WILL be able to be involved in every aspect of qualifing US athletes for international and OLYMPIC competition. It has been a long time coming but it is official now! WAY TO GO ABA!

6-8 INCHES OF SNOW
This winter weather is by far the strongest storm to hit Oklahoma City in a couple years. We have highways closed due to 'White out' conditions and the fact some drivers just don't know how to drive on ice and snow. From chain wrecks to overturned cars to jack knifed semis all over the highway, what a day to be out driving. Just think 24° with a wind blowing up to 40 mph, it is good this thing didn't roll in last weekend at the GRANDS!

SLAM THE DOOR
Today in 3 minutes we had rain then freezing rain then sleet. From 65° in the morning to 25° in the evening. Hey this is Oklahoma and the weather is like that here. They are saying we will have several inches of snow before the weekend and by Saturday it will most all be gone, almost a fast as it came rolling into town. Looks like racing on Sunday is now out of the question at Sooner Pearl!

GRAND NATIONAL / ROC RESULTS
It is officially posted on the ABA web site, all results from the 2006 ROC and 2006 GRAND NATIONAL. These were the end of the 2006 National scheduled races and what an end it was. The start of the 'Greatest Race in the World' today and things could not have been better. With spring time weather and one of the best tracks at a GRAND National should prove to be and good combination for ABA BMX this weekend. The last big race of the year and what a way to finish!

ROC, TULSA
Today the racing began with the Race of Champions then on to the NAG5 Challenge on this long and great track. One of the best tracks at the GRAND National in many years. At about 1200 feet it had it all and then some, it proved to be a real challenge to the riders yesterday at Practice. Things are starting to get hot here!

PRACTICE/THANKGIVING
For many today is the most important Practice day of the year, the only day to have a chance to rider this very challenging track. For those who are not 'in BMX' it was Thanksgiving Day. A day to reflect on the things we all have in our lives and a time to say thanks for those things. Sooner Pearl will not race today. All of us here at Sooner Pearl want to wish the local riders who are planning to race the GRANDS the best of luck and we hope to see you with a huge trophy after next weekend. As most of you should know we have the GRAND NATIONAL coming up in a few days. Sooner Pearl will be closed till after the GRANDS but we do plan on having a few events to close out the year as long as we can keep the rain clouds away. POWER LINE CONSTRUCTION
OG&E has now completed the relocation of the high power lines and we hope things will start to settle down now. All of the work will be away and off the track now. We can work on the track without worry on the workers driving the Bull Dozer back on the track now. We can finish getting the track ready to race again. The new lines look very nice and high tech as well as crossing over the track in the 1st turn. The old lines have been cut and will be removed next week along with the old towers.

WET TRACK
Once again we have a wet track but we did not get any more rain and things should be improving as the week goes along. The weather forecast for the weekend is looking better with highs in the mid 50's and no rain.

It did rain today with some parts of town getting more of the much needed moisture but the track was not one of the places where there was a lot of rain. The track did get wet but not bad and if we don't get more rain the track should be dried before the weekend.

COOLER TODAY
We did have a very little sprinkle here and there as the cold front moved through the state yesterday. Not enough rain to even dampen the dust but the temps did take a dive and we will have a few cool days coming this week. We still have rain in the forecast but things are looking up for the coming weekend.

It seems Mother Nature is in a real mood these last few weeks and our weather is about to go bad again. With a cold front moving in today and the forecast showing rain coming mid week we will have a wild ride this week.

The rains last weekend did damage the track and we have not had time to repair it to race today. A couple of us will be at the track after 1pm today but we are not sure if we will be working on the track.

NO WORK TODAY
Today we were supposed to have a few people out to work on our lights but again we had some scheduling conflicts and it did not happen. Maybe next weekend? So after the rain from last Sunday/Monday the track has not had any real work done and the season is drawing to a close. We hope to have the track back in shape for racing next weekend. Things are starting to bunch up so we will have a few surprises in store for next weekend if we can get the track in shape to race.

COOL AGAIN
Mother Nature has again turned our weather back to the normal Fall weather we should see for this time of year. It was somewhat cooler today and will be again tomorrow but the weekend will be warmer. It was not bad today if you could stay out of the blustery winds we had today but we did have sunshine a mostly clear skies today.

LIGHTS?
With the end of the day coming about 5:30pm it is hard to make time to work on our lights during the week and after work. We should have a few people out to work on the lights Saturday and hope to have some in working order by the end of the weekend. It will be a BIG chore to get all the damage fixed in one day with our resources so it may take more time to get all the lights in working order.

BETTER WEATHER
Our weather has changed again today to late summer and it is really nice. We will only have a couple of days of warmer weather before we go back into Fall weather again. The weekend looks good as far as the weather goes and we hope to have some of our lights back on line after Saturday.

WET TRACK
After the rain Sunday afternoon and Monday morning the track is back in a wet condition now. It would be a great time to be out working but without our lights we have very little time to work before the sun goes down. The rain did not do much damage so if we have some help the track can be back in good shape with a little work. We hope to be out to work both days this coming weekend and may be able to pull off a race on Sunday, we will see.

Well we had to hurry and get things put up yesterday as the rain moved into while we were there. We did get some much needed rain and it did not stop till this morning, it was cloudy most of the day today but the rain has moved on. We should be dry for a few days this week but our weather forecast has a chance of rain for the coming weekend and cooler temps to go along with the forecast of rain.

At 11:30am we have sunshine and nice temps, Mother Nature looks as if she will let us race today between 2 storm systems. With rain to the north, south, east and some coming in from the Texas Panhandle it looks like we have a real nice day to race lined up. Sign ups will be our regular 1-2pm.

WORK DAY CANCELLED
It was not in the stars to make it to the track today to work on our lights. Seems there was more than enough work to go around and we were not able to line up our helpers today as planned. The lights will have to wait till next weekend to get the help they need. We you work with all volunteers that is what we have to deal with.

MORE WORK
It seems there was more work around the track today with 3 of the 5 new high line towers now standing and the other 2 towers are assembled and are ready to stand up as well. Looks like next week they will be out stringing up the new power lines and we suppose the old towers will come down soon after that.

CAN DRIVE
Sooner Pearl has now collected about 100 pounds of aluminum cans in our can drive. Those will be turned in this weekend and the track will use the money to help get the 4 wheeler back on its feet or use it to help purchase a different 4 wheeler. We have also had some other donations of goods which we will be either recycling or selling to raise money for the 4 wheeler fund. Stay tuned as we will be having an announcement on the items for sale soon.

WORK DAY SATURDAY
A few of us will be out working on the track this coming weekend but we have not set a time for either day. One thing for sure is we will be racing Sunday if Mother Nature allows, we had great weather last Sunday but most of the local riders went to New Mexico for the National.

Sooner Pearl would like to say THANK YOU to all those who came out to the track to race yesterday. We had several riders but not quite enough to have a race. We had some really great weather and the track is looking good now. We will be racing on Sundays if the weather is nice enough. Remember we have only a few weeks before the GRAND National in Tulsa. Riders need to be working HARD to get ready for this HUGE race and now is the time.

SET YOUR CLOCK BACK TODAY
Today is the day we all need to set our clocks back 1 hour to return to Regular time. Now that we will have less time in the evening before sundown Sooner Pearl will not have Practice on Tuesday evening until we have our lights repaired. We are planning to get the lights back in working order next weekend when we have a little help. We will starting working on the lights Saturday morning about 10am.

Since our lights are not working we will not have Practice tonight. Until we are able to round up some help the lights will not be fixed and we will not have any events in the evening. We hope to be able to schedule some help to get the lights repaired soon.

Saturday will be a Work Day both at the track and elsewhere. With some luck we will be fixing some of the damage from our latest vandalism. Our last tagging had some damage involved around the track. Painting will be the easy work and we will be working on the track and some computers. Our lights took the biggest toll, all the damage for a little handfull of copper wire?

MORE WORK AHEAD
It seems the construction around the track has taken the week off but we have been busy. The towers have been delivered but have not been assembled or stood up and the trees have been cleared. Won't be long till the lines are moved and things start to change for the highway project.

We did have a few light rain showers around today but later in the day the sun came out and the sky cleared for the most part. With the sun came the drying of everything and we hope to be able to work on the track tomorrow. These last rains did not damage the track and will help to make it damp to make our work a little easier, we hope.

RAIN TODAY
After a chilly morning it turned nice for the afternoon today but we have rain moving in this evening. It will be cooler tomorrow and the weather forecast shows rain all day tomorrow and Monday. The rain will make the track wet and will help us get some work done to finish smoothing it for riding. We are planning to go there Tuesday evening to work if things dry out.

NO CLINIC TONIGHT
Today the track will be closed. We do however have a little bit of good news for the track today. I seems we have been able to aquire a laptop to use at the track. It is a loaner and not quite ready for use but this beast is getting there and will be a welcome addition to the equipment at the track.

The first real construction around the track has now been completed and as construction goes it is only the start of things to come. In order to move OG&E high tension power lines out of the way of the new highway it seems they will now hang over the north end of the track just above the 1st turn. It looks like they will be able to do this work without making any impact to the track, we certainly hope so anyway. We have not been informed as to when the lines will be moved but we will not be able to use the track for a couple days while the move is on. We hope to find out when this will happen but we think it will be some time around the first of next week.

MORE CONSTRUCTION
Again we have more work started around the track for the highway project. The path for the reloaction of the power lines will be cleared of trees to make a clear path for the construction crews. Most of the trees have been cut down but there is still a lot of smaller limbs to be cleaned up where the trees were cut. Now things look a lot different from the street to the track. With the trees cleared we have a nearly clear view of the track from Western Ave.

NICE WEATHER
For some reason Mother Nature has graced us with nice weather this week and it has been nice. Not to warm but dry and a little windy with few clouds. Our truck is now in the shop for repairs we hope it will be ready to rock-n-roll so we came start working on the track next Tuesday evening.

We will be working on the truck again today and will not be at the track tonight. It has not been any fun working and testing just to have the problem even deeper than we have been so far. These new computer controlled vehicles are a mass of wires and sensors and modules that can take a lot of time to test and find a problem. We hope the dealership can find the problem quickly and get us back on the road soon.

We will not be at the track tonight working. We still have not been able to get the truck running and it looks like it will be making a trip to the Chevy dealership to some high dollar diagnostics. Thursday we hope to be able to get it towed to the dealership and maybe we can get it fixed before the weekend.

SAYING GOODBYE
This week Bill will be laid to rest in New York. We hope the Beck and Biles Families all the best, we hope there are no hitches and the funeral is as good as can be expected. Some of us would have liked to attend but there are just to many irons on the fire now. So long Bill, rest in peace friend. It looks like the Beck Family members who made the trip to New York will be back to Oklahoma the end of this week. We hope their return trip is a safe one.

These newer vehicles are not made for the 'shade tree' mechanics who have been working on it. Seems we have still not been able to get the thing running yet.

OUT OF TOWN
Today Bill was prepared for the trip back to New York. He will be leaving tomorrow and the Beck Family will accompany him back to their home town for his funeral. It will be a few days till things will be back to normal here at the track so be patient. We are working to get the track in shape for racing soon. We still have to get the truck fixed and we hope to have the ole' 4-wheeler back in shape week after next soon after the Beck Family members return from New York.

BROKE THE TRUCK
While working on the track last night we managed to break the truck (Richards truck) on the track. A wrecker was called and the poor broken truck was towed to Midwest City to be repaired. We hope it is not going to take long or cost much, time will tell.

The mourning has begun for our friend Bill Biles. The will not be laid to rest here in Oklahoma. The families have decided he will make the trip back to his home city of New York City to be laid to rest.

CONSTRUCTION HAS BEGUN
Today the track will be closed. Sometimes there are things which we have to attend to that are more important than BMX and Sooner Pearl. This week we will have a couple of those days.

As we have known for many years the re-loaction of I-40 will start and force Sooner Pearl to close our current location. Well the construction has begun and this week it will be apparent there is construction. It seems one of first things which will be done is the re-location of utilities on the side of the future path of the highway. Since we have high tension/high voltage transmission lines which run just to the north of the track and they are in the path of the highway they will be one of the first items to be moved. This work has begun and if you visit the track in the next few weeks you will be able to see this work.

LOSE OF A GOOD MAN AND TRACK VOLUNTEER
Today we were busy NOT WORKING on the track. It should have been a regular Sunday but we are not in control of what happens and this was a day we LOST a GOOD MAN. Due to a tragic accident Bill Biles was killed today. His death will leave a hole in more than just Sooner Pearl. More so his family has lost a driving force and strong man. He will be mourned this coming week by Sooner Pearl, by the Beck Family and the Biles family. As soon as we have any news about his funeral we will post it here.

TRACK CLOSED TODAY
Sooner Pearl has once again had more vandalism to our track. This time the little kids came out and tagged the Moto board and the Tower. Also they wanted to look inside the Water Well box so they spent a little time with a sledge busting a couple holes in the side walls.

Sooner Pearl will be closed today and tomorrow so riders can focus on the Redline Cup Final this weekend. Today will be a Double Point Pre-Race with the Final on Sunday at Yukon BMX. Good luck to all the riders who come to attend this set of races.

BIG WEEKEND AHEAD
It was time to work on other things today so no one was planning to go to the track today. Our weather forecast has rain coming in tonight with more in store for tomorrow. It looks as if we have more rain forecast for the weekend as well. One thing about it is the grass has grown and is nice and green now so we have lots of mowing to do.

ABA IN TOWN
A few of us will be out working on the track tonight and we could use your help. Our 4 wheeler is now resting and the engine is blown so we are once again looking for a cheap or donated 4 wheeler for the track.

The weather this week has been mild to say the least. The daytime high have been in the 80s and the overnight temps have been in the 60s and 70s. It may be the heat has broken for the summer and we are may stay well below 100° plus weather we had been in for so long. It has been nice to be able move around after a days work for a change.

We have not worked on the track for about a week now and things are starting to show the affects of us not working at the track. It looks as if we will be cool for a few more days but the 90° weather will at least stay away till the weekend if you look at the weather forecast. We do have some rain in the forecast for the coming weekend but the chances are very low.

As eveyone knows some day in the not to distant future this track will have to close due to the I-40 highway relocation. We have still not been able to get a firm date as to when we will have to close Sooner Pearl but that date is coming. GREAT WEATHER
Today was the Pre Race for the State Championship Race at Yukon BMX. We had some great weather today and the racing was fast. Good luck to all the riders who will compete this weekend. Some of us will be out to check the races and riders this weekend. As said Sooner Pearl will be closed both days this weekend.

Since we have our 4 wheeler in the shop getting it worked on the we have not been able to get the track in shape for racing. GREAT WEATHER
This week the weather has been very nice. We have had very lttle rain and we have had below 90s temps all week. A few of us did make it to the track last night to work. We did get some mowing done and cleaning up all the trash which had been dumped from out trash cans all over the track. Most of our graffiti has been painted over now. We have not replaced all our signage which was stolen.

MORE RAIN TODAY / APOLOGY
The weather is again much cooler and again we got more rain. and cooler than it has been and we could use your help to get the track in shape for racing this weekend.

I (Richard Axtell) need to make a big apology to the riders and parents who have become members at Sooner Pearl. Due to my medical problems I was not able to work on the track as much as I have wanted to in the last few weeks. At 3am this morning I went to the Emergency Room at Midwest City Medical Center. Due to repeated events in the last months which turned out to be Gallbladder Stones I have been unable to work on the track. This problems has now been corrected with the removal of my Gallbladder today. For the next 2 weeks I will not be able to phycially work on the track due to a lifting restriction. As always I will be working all the other jobs for the track during this time. Please except my sincere apology for this problem.

MORE COOL TODAY
Mother Nature has been working hard here the last few weeks. It seems she has blessed us with rain and cooler weather at least for the next week or so. The track is in bad shape due to the rains and some local motorcycle riders. Strange how someone thinks they fixed our track with motorcycles when all they did was make the entire track loose and for the most part unridable. More vandalism has occured at the track. We will not go into detail about it but just say we have been tagged again and most of our new signage has been removed and stolen.

Again Mother Nature has dropped some much needed rain on the city and the track is to wet for racing today. Our weather forecast has a 70% chance of more rain today. This rain has done some good though as our grass is looking very nice and green again. This will of course mean more mowing both at home and around the track. OK so it was a little cooler today with only 102° for the high. It was not THAT HOT compaired to 105° yesterday! Well it seems Mother Nature just wanted to crank up the heat ahead of the heavy rain we are getting this evening. So this pretty well will cancel any event for Sunday as the track is well past the wet stage. At midnight Saturday it looks like we will be getting rain for the next hour or two so most everything will get a good soaking tonight.

Well it is a little cooler today and it looks as if we will not get any rain till later this evening. We did have another cool front move across the state to cool us a little and we have some clouds but no rain yet. Most of the day we had heavy clouds over town but little rain came. Most of the rain was in the south and far west sides of town. The track stayed dry and will be ready for racing this weekend. It was after dark and it was very nice for a summer evening last night. We had a good showing of riders and the weather was great so if you didn't make it you missed a great evening at Sooner Pearl. We have a near full moon with billowing storm clouds at sunset. With the billowing storm clouds and a near full moon we had a great sunset as well.

PRACTICE TONIGHT
Sooner Pearl will Practice tonight AFTER DARK. As soon as the sun goes down we will start practice for the evening, sunset is 8:37pm. Practice will be till 10pm and hopefully a little cooler than during the day. The lights in the last straight have been repaired and we have not dark spots on the track. We will be working on getting some of the perimeter lighting around the track for our spectators. Replacing the rotten boards on our bleachers is next on our list of work items.

Well as most may have thought we did not race Sunday due to lack of riders. After all it was just to hot for most but we did have a few riders show up to race even with the heat. We did manage to get a few things done even with the heat. Sooner Pearl has started to recycle as much of our trash as possible, this week we recycled 50 pounds of plastic bottles, 20 pounds of cardboard and had 50 pounds of garbage.

It really did rain last night and the track was damp for a little while but it didn't last long. Last today the track was completely dry again but not any damage from the rain. With our temps over 100° we need to think much more about our riders when they are on the track. This heat will affect anyone and riders are by far not immune to this heat. Our weather forecast has changed again and now has a 50% chance of rain for Thursday evening, a 30% chance of rain for Friday daytime and 20% chance of rain for Friday evening. It looks like we may just get some rain out of this but we will have to wait to see what happens. If we do get rain we will be racing on Saturday as the track will have plenty of time to dry.

PRACTICE TODAY
Sooner Pearl will be be having Practice today with from 6:30-8:30pm. The track will be getting worked on during practice tonight so be ready for some people to be there on the track. We have most of the track smooth and will mainly be working on packing and adding some dirt to a few places. The track will be in great shape for our State Qualifier on Saturday evening and we look forward to seeing you there for this race. It will be hot and it looks like we will be dry for Saturday, we have our fingers crossed!

MORE HEAT TODAY
Even though it was below 100° today it was still plenty hot enough for everyone. At least we don't live in Southern California where it has been over 110° for the last week and we are a little used to the heat here. Our weather forecast has changed and we have a slight chance for rain on Thursday and Friday. It would be nice to get a little rain for the plants, grass and the track. We will keep a close eye on the weather and post any changes here.

RACE TODAY
Sooner Pearl will be racing today with Sign ups from 1-2pm. The track is in good shape and we have had a few days off due to the very high temps we had during last week. Everyone should be good and rested for an afternoon race today. We have less than 1 week before our State Qualifier race on July 29th. It should be around 90° during Sign ups today which is about 15° lower than it has been during the days last week.

It looked as if we would get some rain showers today but they just rolled over town and left us a few degrees cooler but without any rain, which we could use as it has been dry so far this summer. We have a BIG WEEKEND of racing coming up next weekend and things should be starting to heat up on the tracks this next week. Some of the biggest races in the State will be here before you know it.

TURN UP THE HEAT
Once again today it was HOT and DRY but the forecast shows cooler this weekend which will be nice for the weekend racing schedule. The forecast for next week looks like we will be working our way to back 100° during the next week. It does have us staying under 100° for the week and the BIG WEEKEND is just under 100°, we hope it stays this way but we could use a little rain to cool us off and dampen the track before the State Qualifier in one week.

NO FAMILY NIGHT TODAY
We will not have our Family Night tonight due to the heat. At 4pm is was 106° and it is due to get hotter today and tomorrow. As on Tuesday we will cancel tonight so our riders don't have any heat issues. This heat can hit a person HARD and FAST if you don't have enough liquids and it is not worth pushing the riders. We want everyone to enjoy their time at the track not to think back about when they overheated at the track. Again if you have any loved ones or friends who you think needs looking in on bye all means please check on them.

HOT TODAY
We had another very hot day today, our forecast was changed yesterday to 106° today with 108° Thursday and 110° Friday. The only good thing about it (the forecast) is that the weekend will be in the lower 90's so if that is true we will race on Sunday. As it looks we will cancel again tomorrow if Thursday is over 100° as it looks like it will be. One thing about it is the track is dry now! We may luck out and get a cooling rain Friday if you half way believe the weather forecast, we know how it can change on the drop of a hat here.

We will not have Practice tonight due to the heat. We usually don't cancel events due to heat but today is well above 100° and we don't want to do anything to hurt our riders, heat stroke and dehydration is not our idea of fun at the track. Stay home and keep cool today we will have some watermelon Thursday evening as it is supposed to be about 10° cooler Thursday. If you have a loved one or know someone who may be having a hard time with the heat take this evening to check on them, please. This heat affects everyone and today is a great time to make sure your friends and family are not baking in this heat.

STATE QUALIFIER SOON
We will be having our Oklahoma State Qualifier race in about 10 days and local riders need to be prepared to race in these important races. The end of this month is a HUGE POINTS weekend. With all the tracks in Oklahoma racing for 4 days there will be 800 points available for riders from July 27th to July 30. Thursday evening Sooner Pearl will be racing a single point race, Friday Yukon will have their Race for Life (single point) and the weekend has 3 Double points races scheduled. What a weekend of hot racing action, don't miss this group of races.

RACE TODAY
We will race today with Sign ups from 1-2pm. We will be out working on the track before the race today and maybe some after races are finished. MORE WORK
We did get some work done last night on the 2nd straight. Not much but a little none the less. Some time it just gets done a little at a time. We have some big races coming in just 2 weeks and now is the time to be getting out to race and practice. The last 2 State Qualifiers are a few days away, are you ready to race?

We will be at the track tonight working on getting things back to smooth again. We will have the gate equipment tonight but any gate time will have to wait till we get the 1st straight smooth. NO RAIN TODAY
The rain stayed away most of the day today but it won't be long till it is back again if you listen to the weather man. So it has been very hot and even with the rain it has not cooled off much except during a rain shower. The track is dry now but the turns are a little rough. Most of the jumps are good and the flat areas are OK. We will have to see what happens the rest of the week because we have rain in the forecast till Friday.

NO PRACTICE TODAY
We will cancel Practice tonight as the track has a few muddy places still to dry from the rain last night and this morning. We had a little over 2 inches fall at the track in the last day. Most of the track is in good shape but the turns took a beating from the rain.
We are not sure if we will be out tonight working on the track, Call the track phone if you are heading to the track if we are there we will answer the phone. We will for sure be out working on Thursday evening, we need to get busy mowing grass and the track now has more work to smooth out.

RAIN TODAY?
The sky has clouds but we have not had any rain at the track at 4pm today. Our weather forecast is for rain and it may be heavy at times. Maybe it is coming later tonight. Our forecast has rain till at least Thursday then drying out for the weekend. We still have much work to be done on the track and around the track and we could use your help. The grass is getting tall again and if we get more rain it will need to be mowed that much more.

NO RACE TODAY
Sooner Pearl will not race today as we have heavy rain moving towards town which would put it in town about the time our race would start today. We would not like to invite riders to race then cancel at the last minute or risk the safety of any riders.
After the rain today a few of us will be out at the track taking advantage of the wet track condition to work on the track surface and hopefully to keep riders off the wet track.
We have rain in the forecast for the next 36 hours and hope to be able to have Practice Tuesday evening after the rain has moved away and the track has dried. Check back soon for info on Thursday evenings 'Family Night' plans for this week. Sooner Pearl will have our Race for Life this evening with Sign ups from 6-7:30pm. We look forward to having everyone out at the track today for this fundraiser race. THURSDAY FAMILY NIGHT
Did you have as much fun as us yesterday, we don't think so! We did have a watermelon feast last night at the track and everyone there had a hard time quitting the melons after starting. The melons were ICE COLD, very juicy and really hit the spot after working on the track. We did get some work done and the track is looking much better now. Things will really be in good shape for the Race for Life Saturday evening.

DAMAGE TO YUKON BMX
What is it with people who feel damaging a BMX track is fun or cool. Seems someone vandalized Yukon BMX early this week. If you know who may have done this deed please let us know so we can try to stop this from happening to any track. We have people who volunteer to run our tracks and who work hard to keep them open and nice for our riders. What we don't need are people who damage the tracks and make our work even harder.

Sooner Pearl will not have Practice today. We want eveyone to have a fun and safe 4th of July holiday. We will be out Thursday if Mother Nature don't decide to drop rain on the track. What a day to be at the track, our race yesterday was more than just racing. Everyone had some real fun and after the race was over many stayed to have more fun and help work on the track. THURSDAY 'FAMILY NIGHT'
Since we have not had enough riders to race on Thursday evenings we will continue to have events on Thursdays but with a little less emphasis on BMX and more on getting our BMX familes out to the track and getting to know each other better along with working on the track as well. Next Thursday evening we will have some watermelon for those who come out so be sure to bring some work clothes which can get a little watermelon stain and won't get someone in trouble for having some fun. We may even have a seed spitting contest with the winners getting a special prize for their spitting talent.
