02-06-2005 THE END IS NEAR The last day of the National and things got off to a wet start. It is now raining and cool but not cold enough for ice or snow. As the day went by the weather began to have its effect on many. It was cooler in the arena today but the racing was hotter. Now after 2 days of races the track is packed and race ready more than ever. Some of the track was to make winners and losers when picking between the Amateur or PRO section a rider chose to ride. More riders down on the track today just went to show the riders were after the 1st Place trophies even more today than yesterday. Again we were blessed to get more pictures and most are good and clean. All of Sundays pictures are of the MAINS and start in the Open class motos. Some motos are missing, some are off center. We hope you enjoy the news and pictures of the Sooner National. All pictures are available from okbmx.com. If you see an image you would like a larger version of contact the webmaster@okbmx.com. TOP OF PAGE 02-05-2005 NO MORE RIDERS? Saturday started with our 'Schedule B' ABA time at 7:30am for Registration followed by Practice at 8am. Even the weather was good this morning but it was on the cool side as was Friday but it was dry for now. This was the case for the entire day cool and dry but we started to get clouds. With the clouds comes rain, sleet, snow, hail, freezing rain here in Oklahoma, this weekend it was only rain. Anyway the day turned out to be good for some and great for others. The track proved to be both good and bad for all. As time went by most found the 'sweet spots'. Now it was getting to those spots to get a good race in today. Starting with 173 motos proved or should we say improved many riders in a hurry. It is more fun than words can describe to watch both the girls and boys race. Those 10 and under riders are great but as it goes with BMX there are places some find hard to ride. All day long the races got hotter and the riders pushed for it all to get to the finish first. Now on to the pictures. You can see below there are many fine pictures of more or less stationary objects, the track and so on. When it came to action shots it was really hit or miss, a most were miss. That is until today. The beam was focused and the end result are some good and most much better than usual. Not many as you can see but they are better. See you at the Lazy 'E' Arena. View OFFICIAL ABA RESULTS for this race.

TOP OF PAGE 02-04-2005 ITS ON NOW! The Sooner Nationals have officially started. With 73 motos it was quite a day of getting signed up, getting practice and running motos. And don't forget those old friends you haven't talked to in a while, there was just not enough time to get everything squeezed in the day. Things started heating up as soon as the motos were posted and just got hotter from there. Today the weather was nice for a change and things were dry with a little wind and clear skies. It was very good to start off the weekend with good weather. Not only was the weather nice but the track was in great shape and only got better as the day went on. Our cameraman has not been very lucky shooting action with the new digital camera and considering he was busy most of the day with other things we did not get any pictures today. Sorry. See you at the Lazy 'E' Arena. View OFFICIAL ABA RESULTS for this race. TOP OF PAGE 02-03-2005 ARE YOU READY? What a day of work by the ABA crew getting the track ready for racing. The track is finished with only minor work to be done. It has been tested and approved worthy of racing by a handful of riders. When Sunday afternoon is here we will see what everyone else thinks about it! After moving all the heavy equipment away from the track it was time to pack the infield area, work on finishing the track surface for packing and dragging. After that it was time to RIDE!! The entire track has been shoot and are below along with a pan of the floor. There will be more pictures later as the races run. We hope you like this little walk of the track. As before just click on the picture to see a larger image. We have included a full size pan of the track in this set of pictures beware it is a mere 2meg in case you plan on looking but you can see the entire track in detail. See you at the Lazy 'E' Arena. TOP OF PAGE 02-02-2005 LONG DAY We were not able to get to the arena before the place was locked up tonight. Looks as if everyone left just after 6PM today. You can however get a look at what happened today at yukonbmx.com As it shows the track has been built and is now in the smoothing/re-packing stage. Look for more picture tomorrow as we will be there most of the day working to finish the track for racing Friday. Things will be picking up from here on at the arena. We will be there and let you see what happens. See you at the Lazy 'E' Arena. TOP OF PAGE 02-01-2005 IN THE BEGINNING Today was a day of many things. Revival of track building skills, learning to work with the dirt in the arena and seeing the weather go from bad to worse. Those are just a few things that happened at the arena. The heavy equipment was hard at work today and the track started to form. A starting hill and staging area is now built. On to the track, 2 turns were formed and 1 was near good shape at 6PM this evening along with 3 obstacles which were in the forming stages. The 1st turn is somewhat big but not huge with a large double going into that turn. The 2nd turn is formed but not finished and has the 2nd straight is under construction. At this time it is hard to see the lay-out from the pictures but here is what we have so far. We will be posting more pictures and news about the track and races. See you at the Lazy 'E' Arena. A pan of the entire arena floor during the 1st day of track construction. The starting hill, 1st and 2nd turns are built. TOP OF PAGE 01-31-2005 IT HAS BEGUN The folks from ABA made their way to the Lazy 'E' Arena today. It is time to begin the work for our National. The NEW ABA semi rig rolled into the arena to add a visual effect and for Sign Ups. This new rig if you haven't seen it yet is BMX max on wheels. An office, meeting room and storage room on wheels and nice wheels too. The pictures below are from today and show the arena well before any real part of the track has been built. Matter of fact we got there in time to watch the first steps to prepping the floor area for the track. One thing about this race is there will be NO WET TRACK for the races. If you were at the GRANDS last November you know what we are talking about. Anyway there is much to be done and you can watch as the events unfolds right here this week. See you at the Lazy 'E' Arena. A pan of the entire arena floor before the track has been started. Click on the image above to see it better and bigger. Image of the NEW ABA semi rig.
