SO MANY CALLS
It is another day but unlike so many days we had a flurry of phone calls today. All the calls were about the new race track at Trosper Park. How are things going was a typical question. An answer would be if they were better our track would be open. So many want to see the track open, some could care less and some don't want it to open. Guess we can't please all the people.
More news to come.

MORE PERMITS?
Ever ride a roller coaster?
Sometimes you go up then down, back and forth, slow and fast. It has been a roller coaster day today trying to get things rolling to get water service for the track. We still have a few big jobs ahead and water is one of those jobs. As we understand we have several permits to apply and purchase before we can get any water. Another job is getting our power turned on.

WATER FOR THE TRACK
We did not have a good day with regards to getting water for the new track. It seems we still have a few items to get squared away before we can get our water service working. We have a great bunch of plumbers working to get us hooked up. We hope to have this working soon. That will allow us to start working on the track.

WHAT A RACE!
What a time we had going to Sand Springs to race yesterday. There was a good turn out of riders however many from Sand Springs had traveled to Missouri for a double, double, triple. At Sand Springs there were 45 riders who made it to the track and there was some great racing. Again it was nice to see more than a hand full of riders out to race. We all had a great time and the racing, awards, shirts, pins and other swag was a nice touch for a great race. The 2011 Sooner State Games race will be here before you know it.

READY TO RACE
There were some heavy storms around today but all the action was far away from our city. We did get a little rain again today but not hardly enough to talk about. After work today a few of us were getting ready to travel to Sands Springs for the 2010 Sooner State Games race.
It is nice to get away for a day and have some fun with a great bunch of people. This year we hope to have a few more riders racing but who knows what will happen.

HALF GONE
As we wind down the end of June 2010 and give a look back to the first half of this year we see much. The weather has been an important factor this year and has caused many events to cancel. We have seen changes in leadership at Sooner State BMX and Miami BMX opening. There has been a lot of work to get our new track ready to open but it seems far away from reality some days. What is in store in the 2nd half of 2010?

LITTLE RAIN
We got a little rain today but that did not help the heat stay down long. Another 'hottest day' again today with a high of 97° and some cloudy skies but that was just a cover for the heat. It may have been a lot hotter of the clouds had not been here. The wind was up again today which just kept the clouds moving and help blow the showers in and out fast.

MORE HEAT
Another day of 90+ days and today was the hottest day so far this year. It was a good thing the wind stayed up a little. We have a chance of rain tomorrow maybe it would cool things down a little. The weather is heating up along with the racing this year. Now we have more tracks to race in Oklahoma than we have ever had, things are looking good for our sport.

MONDAY
Hot windy and dry.
Summer is here. Again with the 90 plus temps today we did have a few clouds but they were just good for some shade today. With a pleasant weekend behind some are looking to race in Sands Springs next weekend. That would be the 2010 Sooner State Games race.
The 2010 Sooner State Games race will be the 3rd year for this race event. This race allows non ABA BMX riders a race to compete in an Olympic style BMX race. With Olympic style awards this race is a great way to participate in our sport.

FATHERS DAY
Today we will take time off from track work to enjoy time with our family for Fathers Day. Some people do not have the fortune to have a father to spend time with today. Some of us do have a father. All of us should at the least remember our father today. I (Richard Axtell) will be lucky enough to spend a little time talking to a new Father today. It seems that my youngest son (Ricky) became a Father 3 weeks ago. Maybe if I am lucky I can see my newest grandson 'Buddy' (Riley Axtell) on the web camera!

WORK DAY GONE WRONG
It started out as a WORK DAY but ended up being a work on equipment day. Our Dixon mower has needed a lot of maintenance work this year, much more than we had really planned for to get the seasons work started. Since it was so hot we spent a little time in the sun and a little time in the shade so we did not get as much work done as we had planned. Maybe we will have time to work tomorrow after the Fathers Day events to get in some mowing and week eating. Parts will have to be purchased to get the Dixon back to working condition, it may be next weekend before the pars are here and replaced.

MEETINGS AGAIN
More time was spent today working to get our permits which will allow us to start the construction work at the new track. We have had to spend a huge amount of money and time to get to this point. We spent nearly $8,000 for permits paperwork and attorney fees up to today. That is only to get us to a point where we can get the construction work started. Having the new track in Oklahoma City Park land has been a real pain. If we had known we would not have put the track on Park property.

HOT AND DRY
Today we spent the day with Sun and wind which dried things out enough to walk around the track and not leave foot prints in mud. Since we have not water service and have not really been able to groom the track it really did not get damaged from all the rain. Speaking of working on the track, we plan to work Saturday at Trosper. We have much mowing and weed eating which should be done each week along with all the other work we have to get things ready to race.

HOT AND HUMID, MAYBE MORE RAIN
Now that we have seen the heavy rain we have more in the forecast for today. We had another stroke of luck and the rain stayed away today. Things did get back to near normal today as all the water has now gone and the flooded vehicles have for the most part been removed and recovered. The heat was back today and we did get a little drying wind. One good things did come out of all the rain. We found out our new track does drain good enough to not have standing water on the track. Our drainage system worked!

MORE RAIN?
We had more rain in the forecast but it never did come which is really a good thing considering the rain we had yesterday. That rain may not have been a record breaker downpore but it did get close. With 7.62 inches falling it was not the typical Spring shower. Once again the weather here in Oklahoma City made the National News reports. Some places had 5 feet of water which was enough to get pictures of the idiots who drove their cars, trucks and SUVs into and see only the roof when they had to climb out the window to leave their fish tank on wheels.

HEAVY RAINS
It was not the usual Spring rain shower we have here this time of year. We have already had tornadoes and our record breaking Hail Storm of 2010 and today we had very heavy rain. Current totals are showing over 5 inches fell in a five hour window with light showers to follow. Things got pretty scary for many people who don't have enough sense to not drive their vehicles into water where normally there is no water.

RAIN AHEAD?
Our thrid day in a row of over 90° weather and it looks like we have a couple days of cooler weather ahead this week. The cooler days are forecast to be rain days, then it is back to the 90s again. With the official first day of Summer a week away we have already left behind the cool weather and the frequent rain cycle we have here each year. Now we have the Tornado season and the heat to look forward to for a few months.

It was time to get back to work on our PA system. We now have most of the major components and are working to get the cabling and other items. We have a lot of work ahead for this item but it will be much nicer than the system we had at the old track.

END OF WILD MONTH
So what is really going on? The month of May is over and what do we see? One quick thought is there have been many storms and we have more ahead. Another is we have had more than storms for May 2010. Records were taken, records were made. This is fitting into 2010, May was a wet month, a windy month and for some it was a very 'changing' month. Challenges have changed, for some those challenges came in meer minutes or seconds without much if any warning.
What do we have ahead in June?

MORE RAIN TODAY
It looked like the storms were going to miss the city area today. Some had planned to return to Trosper to work again today but that did not happen. Once again Mother Nature had a plan for today and that included some heavy thunderstorms for a huge part of the city area. It started northwest of town and drove through like the usual freight train we see so many times here in Oklahoma. A speck on the local radar one minute grew to a long line of intense storms graced with the usual list of 'added features', high winds, heavy rain, lightening, thunder, hail and so on. We lucked out no tornadoes and just a graze and brief heavy rain.
Enjoy your Memorial Holiday today. Remember our loved ones and those who served our country and freedom.

EQUIPMENT WORK
After spending a long time out walking the new track property in the heat yesterday it was time to once again get to work on things related to the track but not building a track. As time has passed we have purchased many items we will need for the new track and we have many more to purchase but we have to maintain our items just the same. Not only did we work on our equipment today but we made a decision to have a small group out for some work on the track this Memorial Holiday weekend. It looks like we have a hot and dry long weekend ahead and we have a huge amount of work to be done.

MEETING
Imagine this. One large area of land, about 20 acres on Park land. An area of prior historical value to our seasoned BMX crowd. A piece of City property which has sit unused for 20+ years. Not unused really because the City has used it for a dumping ground for unwanted sand from the local golf course. A location where once was enough dirt to build a competitive BMX track back in the 1970' and yet so barren of dirt our group trucked in dirt to build a new track today. So think about this. If it rained today what happens to the rain 'run off'? As it was there was a lot of run off before our work started since the large open area of this property was either bare sandstone bedrock or barely covered with a very thin layer of dirt on the bedrock. So who cares about 'run off'? The City cares now that we have begun to redevelope the land. Today we had a meeting regarding this very subject 'run off'.

CITY CONTACT
In the near 4 years we have been working to open the new track there have not been many days like today. A couple phone calls changed the outlook of the future of the project. Although the calls were about one subject regarding the new track it seems there will be more ahead. As it goes today we have whittled the long list of items down to a few now. It has taken many long hours of work and more meetings than we ever imagined to get to where we are and we have more ahead! Suffice to say we have fought hard as any respectible BMXer would have and now it looks like we have reached the top of the hill and are now working hard to propel down the downhill side as fast as we can.

It was warm again today with our high getting to 89° and we did have some wind again today. That brought us a few thunderstorms about 5pm today. Those storms had almost dissipated by 10pm. We did have a few spotty heavy showers but they moved on fast and most of town didn't get much rain at all.

MORE EQUIPMENT WORK
All the time we have had our track closed we have been buying items for the new track. Since we left many items at the old track we have many things that will need to be replaced. One of those items are getting so security on the property. As it is now we have already had material stolen from the new track property. About $4000.00 of metal building material has been taken and we have already had some vandalism.
Today however we worked on our new version of a PA system. The new system will be a little better than what we had at the old track. Since most of our real PA equipment was stolen back in October of 2006 we had used an amp, a wireless mic and a computer plus all the speakers. Not much to speak of now since we left the speakers at the old track and the amp was returned to its owner since it was a loaner. Now to get some poles and wire to hang the (not new) speakers on and wire them up! We have most of the equipment but getting everything working is going to take some time and work.

We did have another round of heavy storms today and again missed out on the tornadoes which is a good thing. Yesterday we got just over a half inch of rain at Will Rogers Airport. Today after it was all said and done we had almost another 1 inch of rain. These storms have come due to a huge cold front moving in to the south plains. We barely made it to 73° today, that was a sunset, we did not get to see the sunset today since it was cloudy all day with a cool north wind after the storms moved out.

TORNADO AND MORE
The weather was crazy again today. Many outside Oklahoma got a little look of what we see many times a year. Not a day to be far away from a radio or TV since we had multiple tornadoes, at time more than one on the ground. Interstate 40 east of town was closed for some time after a tornado crossed at Choctaw Road. There about 20 miles east of downtown Oklahoma City many homes were leveled, high tension power lines lay across the Interstate along with overturned Semi-tractor trailers, cars and business'. We could use the moisture but the bad storms can just stay away. A nice weekend with sunshine and average temperature would be nice but it may not happen.

CHANGING WEATHER
As we have mentioned many times before the forecast has changed and things are beginning to look bad for the weekend and even worse as next week begins. Things have dried at Trosper and if that holds we will be out working at least on Saturday since Sunday is Mothers Day. Time to spend some time with family.

A LITTLE CLOUDY
The day started out around 60° and did not get very high today due to a heavy cover of clouds. No rain fell but it sure looked like it could bust open any minute most of the day. At least it did not rain and things are drying up again after our slight rain over the weekend. It looks like we need to get out to start mowing around the track property however some areas will not be mowed which we have mowed the last couple of years.

WEATHER AHEAD
As has been the case for a few weeks Tuesdays have seen a marked change in our weather forecast for the coming weekend. Again this week rain has been written back into the forecast. A better chance on Friday that the weekend but that will change between now and then as it has so may times before. We are looking to go work at Tropser over the weekend if the weather allows.

INFAMOUS DATE
May 3, 1999 just a few years ago but the handy work of Mother Nature can still be seen 11 years later around Oklahoma City. Most places have been cleaned up or repaired. Still there are a few spots where the ground was cleared by a huge F5 tornado in 1999. To those who lost their life on that day. RIP

MORE RAIN
We did not work again today due to weather conditions. The rain we got made the area around the track to wet for equipment. We did not make any attempt to go there due to the rain showers. We had almost a half inch of rain at Will Rogers Airport and Trosper got a little more than that.

HIGH AND DRY
There was a little rain in the area today but Trosper did get enough rain to keep us from working today with any equipment. We had wanted to get to work on the starting hill and grooming it for use. Our starting hill will have grass on the back side for now. We have been out working to kill all the grass on the track but the wind restriction we have is stopping us from applying the grass killer. Last month we had only 14 days below our wind threshold.

WHAT A WEEK
The sun came out today after the rain. Not much of a rain and most places only get enough to wet the dust and then it blew away. West and north of us get much more rain. The wind was way down from yesterday which was the windiest day of this month. Some crazy weather this week.

One step closer to opening the track.
We will not be working Saturday at Trosper.

MORE PROGRESS ON TRACK
So we did start to clear grass from the track this week. Most of what did get removed was done by hand without the help of chemicals. Now that would be a huge amount of labor so we are looking at our options. There are many things to be done ahead. A full plate so to speak. Now to get a little off the plate!

RAIN AHEAD?
Yesterday the rain was put into the forecast and today it has moved to Friday and Saturday. From the looks of it we may not be able to work on the track much this coming weekend. At least not with the Bobcat, maybe some mowing will be on the schedule for the weekend. We also have a bunch of digging to be done. We are working to get power and water, hopefully we get that soon.

The thing is just a forecast and around here they change rapidly. Now we we have rain in the forecast for Thursday and possibly Friday. Can this weather get any more crazy to happen most every weekend? Three years ago our weather was much like this. It won't be long till this will change and we will be looking at 30 days without rain and wishing for some.

STATE QUALIFIER AND WORK DAY
The sun came out today and we did not have any rain, that was a good thing. We did manage to get some work done today which involved unloading our recycled material and getting some of our equipment ready for the long hot Summer ahead. There is a lot of mowing and work ahead for us this year.

Yukon BMX did have the 1st State Qualifier today as scheduled. Again it was an early race. We heard there was a nice crowd there to race. Now the race is on for the 2010 Oklahoma State Championships.

It was not looking good for tomorrow this afternoon since we did get rain today. However it was late in the afternoon and did not affect the racing at Yukon BMX today since the race was early this morning. It looks as if the rain has gone and Yukon will be racing tomorrow. Tomorrow will be the 1st Oklahoma State Qualifier race for 2010. Today Yukon ran their annual Race for Life race.

WORK AND RAIN
Well the rain did visit us today and it will be a factor in the race schedule for the weekend. Most of the area around town did get rain today and Yukon BMX did cancel races for Friday evening. Trosper did get rain but not enough to affect working there this weekend. We made a purchase of material for the new track today. It was a two fold purchase, to recycle some used material and help with the new track at the same time.

WEEKEND AHEAD
It was another day which looked like rain but we really didn't get any. We had cloudy conditions and more wind than we needed. The wind kept to rain away for the most part but a very few areas did get a very small sprinkle, not enough to even wet the dust down. We do have rain in the forecast so we will have to wait to see what the weekend will be like regarding any racing or work during the weekend.

NICE WEATHER TODAY
It was a nice day today for getting outside and working. We were not able to do any work at Trosper today due to scheduling but we are planning to spend the weekend out working if we do not get any rain. The area has dried enough to drive around the track without any damage. We plan to get out with the Bobcat for some real work 'in the dirt'.

CLOUDY AND COOL
It was not a nice day for drying. The Sun did not make much of an appearance for us today and the wind was low. At least the wind was from the south but did have moisture in it as we had fog and damp conditions this morning. Now our weather forecast has a chance of rain the rest of the week. It is looking we may have rain before and/or during the weekend. Should we expect anything less considering our weather so far this year?

It has been said we got just a little over a quarter inch of rain yesterday. Well today was a different story. At the end of the day we got just under 3/4 inch of rain today. The month was going along nicely with almost no moisture then today comes along and washs that away.

So much for working at Trosper again this weekend, maybe next weekend. Our weather forecast is for more rain tomorrow. Looks like we will have to work on indoor stuff now. All those things have to be done as well.

Today was not good as our weather forecast has changed and we have high chances of rain the rest of this week and into next week. ITS 'OFFICIAL' NOW
When the meeting started there was a defined agenda but that changed due to many factors. A few minutes later the agenda item PUD-1410 was the next item for discussion and a final vote. After some discussion the votes were cast and the item passed with some comments. On March 30, 2010 item PUD-1410 became official and a part of the City of Oklahoma City's history. Many of you are wondering (by now) just what PUD-1410 was and what it has to do with BMX in Oklahoma City. This Planned Unit Development was a piece of work to help OKBMXPA continue the building and opening of the new track at Trosper Park.
For many this day was not supposed to happen.
Sooner Pearl will never open again.
When a 'new' track opens, historically the old tracks closes.
Richard spent all the money on....booze and whores.
Those are just a few of the statements, rumors of comments which have circulated for nearly 3 years now. After many laughs, some so much so we cried there has been an air of excitement in the city in the last few days. Now for those who vocalized their interpertation of the future demise of Sooner Pearl we can say, sorry you were SO WRONG!
Wait till you see what we have in store for BMX in Oklahoma for 2010.

OK DAY
Another day of windy warm weather for us today. We have not had a day yet this month where our high for the day was under 70° and 2 days above 80°. We have had windy days as well with no days with less than 11mph and gusts to 44mph. It has been dry with the exception of the 2nd when we did have almost a half inch of rain fall in the southwest side of the city but the area where the track is located got less.

Our high for the day was 76° after a low this morning of 59°. Most of today we had clear skies however as the day continued there were thin clouds moving in from the northwest. Our forecast has a slight chance for rain tomorrow but no rain after that for the next week.

SURVEYING, SOONER STATE GAMES 2010
It was a windy day again today. If you overlooked the wind it was however a pretty nice day to be outside working. Today we had time to get out and do a little work in the sunshine (and wind). Now that we have a clear path to follow to get the new track ready to operate we will be out working many jobs that need to be completed and many more jobs that are just starting. We will be out to work for a short time today. We are trying to clear our way to travel to Sand Springs tomorrow to attend the CLINIC for Monday evening. Our local A-PRO Dennison Smith will pushing local riders to their next level in this 1st CLINIC of 2010. Watch here for more info on upcoming Dennison Smith CLINICS. Now you need to clear a path to becoming the best rider in Oklahoma.

Now since we did mention Sand Springs BMX above it is only fair we talk about an interesting event there soon. About 3 years ago discussions were started with Sooner State Games and Oklahoma BMX Parents Association. While our intention was to have our new track open to have the 1st Sooner State Games race in Oklahoma, without an open track the opportunity was shifted to Yukon BMX, so in 2008 and 2009 the race was ran at Yukon. For 2010 this will change. OKBMXPA working with Sand Springs BMX and Sooner State Games has announced the race will be held at Sand Springs BMX for 2010. Scheduling is in works and we will have that here very soon.

HOMEWORK
Today was a day to work around the house and not at the track. Late in the day we had time to devote to the track paperwork, an interesting thought considering we do not have an operating track! Some of this work was to be devoted to the 2010 race schedule for our new track. If we go back to our former schedule we will conflict with Yukon BMX on Tuesday evenings. With the number of tracks operating in Oklahoma there will always be some conflict in scheduling! We have not officially scheduled an Opening Date and this date will determine our schedule for 2010. Now to schedule a Practice Session and Race Day. What will our late opening date due to the 2010 State Qualifier schedule?

It looks like Spring has forced its way into Oklahoma and some tracks are getting in races on Fridays and the weekends. The rain we had yesterday did affect racing here for the weekend but that is about to change soon. What is ahead for us is there will be a fourth track opening very soon which will be followed by a fifth track. Now about a selection of tracks to ride. ANOTHER WINDY DAY
What can be said about the weather here is it has a way of biting you when you are not looking. Most thought yesterday was windy until today. We made it to a high today of 80° after the rain early this morning. We had a very fast moving thunderstorm pass over town early this morning about 7am. It had high winds, some semi tractor trailers were overturned along with rain and hail. What a way to start the day. The wind was up higher today than yesterday with winds 24-36mph and gusts to 44mph, that was in Oklahoma City on the southwest side but we had nigher winds pass to the east. The southeast side was where the trailers had a hard time staying on the ground.

Things got a little windy today but the heat was the nice thing. our high today made it all the way to 88° but the wind was a factor in this days weather. Our wind was 22-29mph with gusts to 36mph. If it was outside it needed to be nailed down or it would go flying away. That south wind was what blew the warm weather to our doorstep today. It was a little cloudy but the clouds didn't have time to stick around. The rain in our forecast has been moved from Thursday to Friday so which may affect weekend racing.

WORDS SOME HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR
Today was the end of a long, hard fought and very tiring battle.

From the President of OKBMXPA.
I want to say it has been a great time but I QUIT!
So what happens now? Well there are many who have been wait a long time to hear Richard Axtell say he is quitting. We are all sorry to hear this but everything has to come to an end. Just don't make the mistake of reading to much into the above statement.

Now if you just read the above paragraph you may think there is something to this story and you are very correct. You see no one has resigned! The battle has been to remove the hurtles so the new track can be finished. That last BIG hurtle was cleared today. Our work is planned out and we have much to do but when someone tells you or you hear 'that track will never open' rest easy it will happen soon. Maybe not soon enough for some and way to soon for others. As we have said 2010 will be a record and historic year for our sport in this great state.
Sooner State Games? After a lot of work on behalf of a small group 2009 did see the Sooner State Games come to BMX in Oklahoma. For 2010 there will be some changes and we will have the lastest news on this event soon, stay tuned.

The wind was the only thing that made this day not a 'great' day. We made it into the 60s today with a high of 61°. If not for the high yesterday of only 58° today would have been a full 7 days in a row of about 60° days. We did have a little rain in the last week but it looks like things may be getting back to a normal drier weather pattern which would be nice. These last few days have certainly got most everyone out of the 'cabin fever' mode. A little dry weather would be nice since we have much work ahead.

We have better then worse weather on tap for tomorrow. The town will be rockin' Friday with a high in the 70s and then snow.

The Super Nationals are this weekend in DeSoto, Texas. Another close National event for us. This year many of our riders have had more time on a National track than some of the local tracks in the state. We are sure that will show in our riders over the weekend.

It was a little cloudy today but not bad for the last week of Winter. Now if we can get over setting up the clocks Sunday, a lost hour of sleep.

CLOUDY AND DRY
Another dry day but if you looked up it looked like we could have had rain most any minute. It was very overcast today and a little cooler than yesterday. The wind changed directions to more north which cooled us off and without sunshine it seems quite a bit cooler than yesterday. It was dry again today and our forecast has no rain till next weekend! We do have a chance of freezing lows mid week and a chance of rain Friday. This will change as the week goes ahead.
No work at Trosper today. We did manage to play in the dirt yesterday for a few hours. We have much work to be done. That is about to change.

COOL AND DRY
It looks like racing will happen this weekend with Yukon BMX up 1st then Sand Springs BMX later today and Sooner State BMX tomorrow. Now things are getting back to near normal as far as racing goes. Soon we will have another track opening to go to when Miami BMX gets things going up in the NE area. It has been a long time coming and it will be the first time we have had 4 open ABA tracks in Oklahoma. Time for 2010 to really set some records.

WORK DAYS AHEAD
As it looks there will be work on the local tracks this weekend. Yukon BMX has canceled racing for Friday evening to work on their track. Sand Springs BMX got rain today in the afternoon and had to cancel this evening races as well.
We will be out working at Trosper this weekend. It has dried enough to drive around the grounds and we will have the Bobcat out working on several items on our 'to-do' list.

WEEKEND RACING?
So things have been very quiet in the city about Work Days this week and as of today there is no word on weekend racing at Yukon BMX however Sooner State and Sand Springs are scheduled to race this weekend. There is a chance of rain in the Tulsa area tomorrow so check the Sand Springs BMX web site for the most info or give them a call.

TRACK WORK THIS WEEK
Another dry day was on tap today and that means things are getting dried out and maybe we will be able to get some time this weekend to work on a track. The weather has been bad so far this year and all the area tracks need to have Work Days to get things right for the late start of this racing year. The high today of 64° after a morning low of 39° but the wind turned it up a notch today. Again we had a northwest wind from 12 to 36mph with gusts to 44mph, it was a windy day.
Now on a week of above freezing lows, things are starting to bloom and it is looking like we will be able to schedule Work Days this weekend. Check you local track web site for more info regarding Work Days.

WARM TODAY
The day started out much like yesterday. Cloudy but the wind changed that and we made it well into the 60s today with a high of 66°. Again the wind was up around 20mph and gusts up to 36mph. The clouds just came an went but it was nice enough to drive with the window down and it was dry today. Pretty good for this time of year.

SPRINKLES
Today the wind changed directions and was out of the south but this day it cooled it down a little. It was partly cloudy and a very few of those clouds had a little rain shower in them. Most of town did not see any rain mostly the south half of town. To say anything is has been a few nicer days this last week with above freezing temps and near 60s for highs. It was a little on the windy side however and we had gusts in the mid 30s.

RACING AND PHONE SERVICE
So things were looking pretty bad in Oklahoma City this morning. We had an overcast sky and light showers were moving across the city. Not a lot of rain but enough to get things damp however the weather did stay enough to the south to allow racing at Sooner State BMX today. A few of us made the trip there, some to offer a helping hand and other to race. With a turn over of staff there this off season a few helping hands made them more comfortable. Things went off without a hitch. There were 44 riders who made the trip and things were great as far as the racing went. The track was a little out of was out of shape but considering a rebuild and almost no time to work on the track things were not bad and we had a lot of fun.
We are not sure just how long the phone number for Sooner Pearl has remained the same but it looks like there may be a change in the future. Currently the number is not working. We will be looking to change this soon.

YES BUT NOT REALLY
So things were pretty nice again today and considering that a couple of us went out to work on the track. Not a lot of time was spent there at least not enough for some. While we still have work to be done with the City before real work can start. The weather is going to dry out and track work is ahead. We have many things not on the track which have to be done and we still have no water or electricity. Soon many of these things will be changing.

GREAT DAY
After all the wild weather we have had with back and forth rain, no rain this day was one to roll down the windows and get in some fresh air while driving. Not quite Spring yet but today was pretty close. With a high for the day of 69° it was nice to have a break from the cold weather.
So far this month we have not had any measureable amount of precip and no freezing temps since the 2nd of this month. Now we may have some dry tracks to race on this weekend. We hope this is a change we can all like. However our forecast has rain for Sunday.
It looks like we may have a little time to work at Trosper this weekend on Saturday before we travel to Ponca City for the opening race of Sooner State BMX. Hope the rain holds off till then!

WARM WEATHER TODAY
From a low this morning of just above freezing we made it to 63° today and it was on the nice side even with the wind we have. It was a real windy day and somewhat overcast but the warm temps made it nice for a change. Just what we have been looking for to help get things dried out in Oklahoma.
The forecast has some more warm weather ahead for us which may help dry us even more, maybe enough to actually have a chance to work on our tracks this weekend.

SOUTH WIND AND WARM TEMPS
It was a typical day for us today. The wind changed and was out of the south which usually means warm dry weather. It was dry today and well above the freezing temps we have had. It was all the way up to 57° and with the very low wind things seemed a little warmer than it was. Now if we could just keep this warm weather for a few more days. Our weather forecast has changed almost daily this week so the weekend weather is up in the air now. At least we have warm weather in the forecast but there is also a chance for more rain ahead for the weekend.
In a couple days we will get word on our situation for the track at Trosper. This has been a huge delay in getting things going and we are ready to get back to work.

SO THE WEATHER HAS BEEN A FACTOR?
OK, so the weather has been a factor and many are balling up from cabin fever. With a National event less than 3 weeks away the question is will OK01 have many riders there and how will the do over the weekend. Many have had almost no track time this year, many thanks to Mother Nature. Riders who race in OK01 have had to travel to get District points. It has not been so pleasant for many who have not been able to make trips for points.
On a lighter note and if the weather stays dry it looks like Sunday racing will start at Sooner State BMX this coming weekend. Under new management for 2010 that place is about to heat up. A track rebuild happened over the very long break. Not only that but there have been changes to the track and the track area. It also looks like there are more changes ahead for the newest BMX track in Oklahoma. More on this later.
Also in about a month if things dry out and luck is on their side Miami BMX will start racing as well. It looks like we have some traveling scheduled.

It was clody today and the wind picked up a little but again we had not rain and it got warm enough today to get some drying. Things are still saturated and that will not change for a few days. Now just a few days of dry would be nice. Could it be a change for the better?

Today Mother Nature blessed us with a day without moisture falling from the sky. Just a little wind and mostly above freezing things again started to move into the drying stage today. WHAT KIND OF WEATHER WAS THAT?
Late last night if you were outside you could hear rumbling from the storm moving into town. About midnight the rain started, light at first then it became a little harder but not real hard. Early this morning the city got a little dusting of snow. On the east side of town we had about a half inch this morning. As things warmed up the snow melted to run off to another place since the ground is saturated now.
If you are looking to race this weekend Sand Springs BMX is open and they will be racing Saturday. Check their site or call 918-245-5269 or Steve Arrowood @ 918-813-2157 for the lastest info. Good luck!

SO WHAT
It was a strange day. We started out well below freezing this morning with 22° and we warmed up to 54° only thing is you could not tell it got that warm. Today was a day for the wind and as is mostly the norm for Oklahoma City it was from the south but it was a day to hold on to something if you had to go outside. We had gusts to 39mph but most of the time the wind stayed between 18 and 30mph. AS for ahead we have rain which is already in the area. Just northwest of the city is a storm a brewin'. We have rain/snow coming.

A DUSTING OF SNOW
Some of this is nice just to see things covered in snow. For a snow day it was a minor one to say the least. We did make it well above freezing today so it did dry a very little after the snow burned away.
And we thought it was wet.

November 2009, .29 inches of rain, 0 inches of snow.
December 2009, 1.47 inches of rain, 14 inches of snow.
January 2010, 2.77 inches of rain, 5.2 inches of snow.

November 2008, .7 inches of rain, 0 inches of snow.

NOT REALLY MUCH BETTER
Mother Nature kept out any real drying today by holding down our high for the day. What drying we did have was from wind as the sun didn't make much of a show today. With nearly 1.5 inches of rain to dry out from yesterday it is still wet here after today.
The weather ahead is not looking to much better. It seems we are having 2 days of rain/ice/snow and 2 days of no moisture. The ground is again saturated with moisture, deep.

AND THE RAIN COMETH
Some days are just destined not to be good, this was one of those days. Today the rain started out very light and did not make it to much more than a misty cloudy funk of a day. With rain developing right over our heads it was another sad day for BMX here. The year 2010 will be a defining year for our sport. WILL WE RACE THIS WEEKEND?
It looks like Mother Nature has again set off to delay the racing action in the Oklahoma City area. So now we have to consider driving to other tracks to find the way to race. With no moisture falling for the last 11 days and the weather holding off the sun and wind the drying process has slowed. Now we have more moisture in the forecast for later this weekend. COLD, WINDY AND A LITTLE SNOW
The wind was the factor today. We made it above freezing today but the 40mph wind made it hard to work outside for any time, just to cold. Even with the cold the sun was out most of the day and the wind did help a lot to dry things out. We have a few dry days ahead but more moisture is in the forcast. MILD WEATHER, MORE AHEAD
We started the day a little on the cool side but things changed a bunch when the skies cleared. After that it was all uphill and it turned out to be a really nice day. A lot of drying happened today in the city area.
On the racing front it looks like Sand Springs BMX will be racing Saturday afternoon. Word is they will be out early in the morning to get a little work completed before races. Some of our local riders will be cruising up to race tomorrow. It looks like the 1st Local BMX race will happen in Sand Springs in 2010. What a change that is. We are sure the local riders will appreciate some time on a track.
As it stands it looks like Yukon BMX will not race this weekend due to 'wet track' conditions. Their website shows 'track closed'.
A few people will be out working at Trosper Park tomorrow. We will not be there early in the morning as we have a few errands to run in the morning.

COOL AND BLUSTERY, SOME SNOW
It wasn't really that cold, just above freezing with overcast skies. Then the wind changed directions, there was some misty sprinkles and then the mist turned to snow and the temps dropped. We had flurries but no heavy snow, since the ground was a little warm the snow melted as soon as it hit the ground. Only above ground objects had snow cover and that cover was minimal.
There are changes in store for BMX racing in Oklahoma for 2010. Some have already happened. Ther has been a change of Track Operators at Sooner State BMX Congrats to Ron Miller, Ron has taken over in Ponca City. We all look forward to seeing Sooner State open for 2010. There has been some changes made to their track since racing stopped in 2009.
It is beginning to look like the has been some progress at Miami BMX According to their website they have a race scheduled for March 13, 2010. Check their website for the lastest info. Of course the racing is there is 'weather permitting'.

It was another day of not so good news on the weather front. Since we did just bearly make it above freezing today there was a little melting today but what melted did not soak in and the drainage ditches and creeks took all but a little of the melting of our hands. We did have some wind today but this time of year without the sun, wind just can't do much to dry us out. We have more forecast rain or snow coming this weekend and early next week.

To follow the header above with a little imagination it was somewhat nice today as long as you stayed out of the wind. We did have sun today and the wind did help dry us some today. What a change from the last couple weeks. The above freezing day was a nice change and to see things dry a little was also a good thing. GOOD LUCK AT SOONER NATIONAL
The media blitz began early this morning. First up was KAUT 43 at 8:45am. So far no net video on KAUT. Next up came KWTV 9 at 4:45pm. It was during the early evening news. ABA furnished the background video for this segment. That 'background video' is the new ABA 30 second commercial, no audio. A link to the segment KWTV. Later today it was off to Telemundo. A little more time behind the camera. Again it was Dennison Smith with 'Go for it Gopher', the ABA BMX mascot who also made it to the KWTV segment. At Telemundo the segment was recorded for use later this weekend.
Next up tomorrow is FOX 25 Friday at 7:20am.
Watch out for 'Go for it Gopher' at the Lazy E Arena this weekend.

WARM BUT DRY
The day was supposed to warm up and we were supposed to have sunshine but that never happened. It was a little warmer today than yesterday and the wind stayed down to almost nothing but the clouds kept us from really warming up much.

GREY, DAMP AND COOL
Mother Nature has again ahown the outdoor tracks in this area what it is like to be damp for any extended period. Since the blizzard that blew in on Christmas Eve we have been cold and damp. Most days have had little sun and with out the sun and wind we have little drying of the ground. So far this month we have had only 8 days with above freezing temperatures.

GREAT FOR WINTER
If we had a few more days like today we would be out practicing on our bikes on a track. A National event is upon us and our local riders have not had any time on a track this year in this area. We would have to go back a few years to find a year when we have practiced or raced before the Sooner National. We need more weather like today.

WINDY AND WARM
The wind was back today with 13 to 23mph winds, we had gusts to 35mph so it was a day to hold your hat if you had one on your head. The south wind did warm us up to 57°. Today was only the second morning low above freezing since Christmas Eve, we hope we have a few more this week.

WHERE ARE WE
As crazy as the weather has been it is time to let you know what has been happening with our weather. Most don't know but we are in an El Nino weather pattern. This has usually meant wetter and cooler weather for our part of the US. So this year is looking to be more like 2008 when we had a very wet February and only 3 races before the Sooner National. What has Mother Nature in store for us this year? One thing is sure there will be a little more chatter on BMX very soon, maybe before the National?

BETTER WEATHER
So today we started out at 22° this morning and what a big difference it was from the last few days. Our high was 56°, the wind was below 20mph clear skies and the sun felt really good today. Maybe we will see an end to the Christmas snow and ice after all. The warm temps made the stuff really go away today we hope it will finish the job soon.

ABOVE FREEZING TODAY
So it was not much better for a start but the day did get warmer and we did get above freezing today. Our morning low was 6° which was the coldest this Winter so far. But we did get to 42° which made things a little less dangerous for outside ventures. The bitter wind chills we have had did make outside trips not any fun at all. It looks like we may be out of the freezer at least during the day for a few days which will be a big relief for much of the country.

NOT MUCH BETTER
It was almost a repete of yesterday but we did make it to 28° for our our high today. With only 15mph winds the cutting was a little less but it was still not a good day for outside anything unless you wanted to make ice. At least the wind was down, it didn't help much. Hopefully tomorrow will be better and we can get rid of all this ice and snow left over from Christmas.

DEEP FREEZE HERE
Now it looks like the weather forecasters were correct in the forecast with a huge cold blast hitting here and staying for a few days. Today was not a day to be outside at all. With near 30mph winds from the north and bitterly cold temps it was not a pretty sight. We made it to 22° for a high and the morning low was 7°. The wind chill was well below zero and stayed near zero for the daylight hours. To cold!
See you at the track.

COLD WEATHER
It was just cold today starting out at 17° dropping to 12° before sunup and climbing to 21°. It looked nice from inside but the north wind was cutting and getting worse. By midnight we had 12° and 23mph north winds, clear skies and a low of 5° ahead. Tomorrow will be colder but with less wind.

NOT TO BAD CONSIDERING
So it was again nice in a relative way today. We had above freezing temps so even more melting away of the snow and ice. Just before sundown the road were again very wet in many places with a refreeze ahead tonight. It is not looking good for the end of the week with bittery cold temperatures ahead. Although the lows have come up from below zero they are still cold and in the single digits for Thursday and Friday night.

SOMETHING TO WATCH
We had another day warm enough to thaw and the snow and ice was melting as fast as it had come down. As long as it don't freeze tonight it will be fine. Today we had some communications with OKC about the track at Trosper Park. Next week we will have some news about the track. There is more news to come shortly about our sport as well as info on the Sooner National.

MORE THAWING
From the most part our little Blizzard of 09' is about to melt and soak the ground. Don't get it wrong there are still banks of snow 5 feet high but not anything like it was a few days ago. It did get warm today in a relative way just enough to really get some slushy snow.
What a year we have had in 2010.
See you at the track.

MORE COLD WEATHER
Today was another cold day with our high well below freezing and if you look at our forecast till the end of next week we don't have much above freezing in store.
Looks like we will have to use alternative means to get in shape for the Sooner Nationals, January 22 - 24.

NO RACING TO START YEAR
Our second day into the new year and the weather has already show down the racing for 2010. It will be several days and maybe more before any of the area tracks will warm enough to dry out to ride. Any north facing turns or or jumps with north faces will not dry from sunshine this time of year.
