WORK DAY
We will be out working on the track today starting about 10am and most likely will be there till dark. We will be there all day to insure that things are OK for races on Sunday. The track is in great shape now and we will be out working to have it in tip-top primo 'best it has been all year' and that will be easy as it will be the first day of the new year....
Just in case you didn't know we will be racing Sunday with Sign-ups from 1-2pm, our new race fees will start Sunday as well $6 ribbon and $10 trophy also our new $3 Practice fee start tomorrow.
Have a safe and fun New Years Eve and we will see you at the track Sunday. Check out the announcement below on the 29th for info on Special Offers we will have in effect Sunday as well. THE END IS NEAR
The end of 2005 is drawing near and things are starting to heat up. As the end of the year is tomorrow we here at the track want to slow down and wish everyone a safe and fun NEW YEAR. In 2005 we had a lot of ups and downs both on the track and off. We want to say THANKS again to all those who made it possible for Sooner Pearl to continue operating after the crippling theft back in October. If not for the GOOD HEARTS of those who pitched in we would not have been able to start another year of racing. It is always hard to cancel a race or two a we did in October. Thanks to some help from our great friends and the BMX community. We are all thankful for their help. Thanks to them we will kick off our 19th season here at Sooner Pearl Sunday. THANK YOU.

SPECIAL OFFERS
As we have been telling a few people these last few days it is now out in the open now. There will be several special things happening at the race track this Sunday. If you want to take advantage of these offers you will need to find someone who has received a copy of the email sent out today. There are rules that apply included in the email.

TRACK WORK EVENING
with all the attention which has been given to the buildings and signage around the track it was time to devote some energy to the track. With the help of a couple people we were able to work on the track for 4 hours this evening. Thanks goes out to Matt Finch for bringing his 4 wheeler to drag the track and make things even better than they were. The track was not by any means in bad shape as it was it was more to freshen things for our 2006 season opener on Sunday.

COVER-UP COMPLETE
All the graffiti is once again gone on the track as of yesterday and we have another coat of nice white paint covering the artistic expressions of the little vandals. My how the new coat of paint makes things look so much better and is our way to express our artistic 'cover-up'. Now thanks (again) to Basco Screenprinting we also have a couple new signs at the track which most everyone will notice when they come to the track to race.

WALK A MILE
Today it was like sunny California here, what a great day. Winter must have taken a right turn today as it was 73° with clear skies and almost no wind there was no way this was the day after Christmas. All the great weather and we had riders on the track today too. Our rain which was forecast for tomorrow is now gone and we will be riding good weather till next week. We will be out working on the track tomorrow and things will be just fine for our January 1st race. Oh ya almost forgot we tested our newly acquired wireless microphone unit today and we could almost 'walk a mile' and still be able to talk on that thing it is great. NO MORE break up of our PA system at races NOW.

MERRY CHRISTMAS
It was just beautiful today with mostly clear skies and a high of 60°. Not at all the typical Christmas Day by any means as the children would like a White Christmas but the adults liked the weather very much. We had a few riders out on the track today and things looked pretty well as far as the track went. No muddy places although we did have a motorcycle rider on the track Friday but there was only minor damage and this will be fixed this coming week as we plan to be working several days this week preparing for our season opener on January 1st.

The forecast is for some clouds and a high around 55° which is above our 40° threshold to call off races. We do have a slight chance for rain Tuesday but this will be long gone by the weekend.

THE DAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS
No white Christmas for us this year. It was about 58° today and we made it all day without any moisture. The track is drying out again and is still in great shape for riding except for the damp places. Most of the track was dry enough to ride in places today but we still would like it to dry more before we let riders out to ride. It will be dry enough tomorrow and we are sure there will be riders out trying out their new bikes tomorrow.

The forecast is for some clouds and a high around 53° which is above our 40° threshold to call off races. WARM AND DAMP
It was nice and warm again today but we did have a few times of very light mist during the day. With the mist the track was not able to dry out as much as we would have liked but it still looks great.

WARM AND DRY
What a nice day we had today with sunny skies and warm temps. It has been very nice for a Winter day in December, WOW. The track is damp but will be drying out today and is still in good condition. We can't believe it has been able to last this long without riders riding in the mud.

WARM WEATHER ON THE WAY
Although Mother Nature has pushed Winter onto our doorstep today was much more like early Spring than Winter. The sky has cleared and the somewhat cold temps have given way to much above freezing temps. It was a nice day for a change today. We have warm weather in the forecast for till at least mid week next week. Looks as if we won't have a White Christmas this year.

COLD, RAIN, SNOW
Again today we had overcast skies and a mix of percipitation most of the morning and it was a tad bit warmer today than the last few days. It is still wet outside but the track has weathered this moisture very well. Not only has the track taken the moisture well for some reason we have not had riders riding in the muddy conditions which is a nice departure from seeing bike tire ruts in the track after the track has become muddy.

WIRELESS MICROPHONE UNIT
The track has now purchased a replacement Wireless Microphone unit to replace the unit stolen back in October. We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the unit for testing at the track. We have decided not to buy the same type unit as we had before (Radio Shack) and have opted to purchase a much better brand in hopes this would solve our problem of signal breakup when standing a various locations around the track. We did however take a chance and buy a used unit at about half price of the same unit bought new. We will post the outcome of our tests next week as we have scheduled a test for Monday evening after Christmas.

MORE VANDALISM
Once again one or two of our local gangs have seen fit to come to the track to 'tag' things. We had painted over the last 'tagging' just a couple weeks ago and we guess this was a 'fresh canvas' for the little brats. We say little as the paintings are not much above 4 feet off the ground so it is apparent these brats are short or young. This time they saw fit to use some very graphic language as well. We have contacted the OKC Gang Squad about this vandalism.

COLD, RAIN, SNOW
It is winter now and Mother Nature is showing off today. Just cold enough to have rain, snow and wind to keep things mixed all day. We need the moisture and it is coming down slowly so the track will not have heat cracks for a few days. We have rain and snow in the forecast till Tuesday so we may get a good soaking.

NICE WEATHER FOR RACING
Our weather was nice today and the racing season is drawing to a close. Sooner Pearl will be CLOSED till January 1, 2006. We will RACE on January 1st. (weather permitting) at our regular race time. We are working to get our track lights back in working order so we may resume our NORMAL schedule next year.

NICE WEATHER TODAY
Winter is upon us and the weather has been kind so far. It is a little cool and we are still under a FIRE ALERT over most of the state. We could use some moisture of the liquid type, please not ice or snow. The track is in great shape and we have been out working a little here and there but since it has been dry there is little to do on the track itself.

BETTER WEATHER TODAY
The sun is out and the temp is above freezing today. Most of the snow has melted but we are still under a Fire Alert for most of the state. It is a good feeling to be above freezing though and it is supposed to be much warmer this weekend.

MORE COLD TODAY

LET IT SNOW
Today we had very light snow and bitterly cold temps with a little north wind in the mix. It was down right cold here and blustery for Oklahoma. The track was covered with snow today, it really looked kind of cool and WHITE. As we said yesterday we will NOT race this weekend. We hope to see everyone out to race on January 1st for the 1st race of the 2006 season.

It was cooler and a little less windy today and we raced with a small number of riders. The new Shur-Start worked great as we ran it through a race today. We also tried out the new card scanner which worked great as well, what a time saver those are for Sign ups.

NICE BUT WINDY
Today the weather was good if you wanted to fly a kite. We have partly cloudy skies and nice weather with a high near 60° but the wind was brutal. Saturday the wind will die down and we should have a nice day for racing. We also have a card scanner now which was one of the items which was stolen from the track in October, wow it is nice and we got a smoking deal on it too.

DECEMBER 3-4 RACES
We have changed our schedule the last 2 weeks of this season to allow local riders a couple more chances to add points before the end of this season. Now it seems we may be seeing Mother Nature making changes to our schedule. Our Saturday and Sunday races for this weekend may be more than she wants as the weather forecast has changed and races Sunday will be cool but we have full intentions to race Sunday. Our forecast for Sunday is for cooler afternoon temps in the mid 40's, just above our 40° threshold. So if you are planning to race Sunday be sure to bring something warm. We will get some firewood for a good ole barrel fire and we will see you there. You can see our NEW Shur-Start in action......

GRANDS RACE INFO
Once again there is one heck of a page on the results of the GREATEST BMX Race on EARTH for District OK01 riders. You want to know who got what in the ROC or GRANDS? Just click HERE for the latest info on these races.

Sooner Pearl BMX will be open for racing this coming weekend December 3-4. We will have RACE Sign ups from 1-2PM on Saturdays and our regular Sign up time from 1-2PM on Sundays. The ABA season is upon us and we would like to finish out the year racing. Of course these dates are weather permitting and as of today this coming weekend looks good for racing.

OPEN FOR RACING
Sooner Pearl BMX will be open for racing this coming weekend December 3-4. We will have RACE Sign ups from 1-2PM on Saturdays and our regular Sign up time from 1-2PM on Sundays. The ABA season is upon us and we would like to finish out the year racing. Of course these dates are weather permitting and as of today this coming weekend looks good for racing.

ABA has posted results for the 2005 ROC and GRANDS on their web site. They are a little mis leading as they show National #1 as the ROC results and National #2 Team results as the GRANDS results.

MAINS HAVE RUN
The racing is over and the winners have been given their awards. The drivers are packing up and readying for the drive home. It all came down to the MAINS today and they were good to say the least. We want to be the first to say 'JOB WELL DONE' to all riders who came to compete. The riders who were good enough to come home with an award have bragging rights for now and they deserve it! Congrates to all and have a safe trip home.

Now that things have started to wind down I (Richard Axtell) want to apologize for not posting more on the races this weekend. I had a little battle with the track and it won on Thursday during practice. Due to this I came home Thursday evening to rest my old bones. As I sat here Thursday evening and cruised the net it became clear that many others had done a great job of covering the build up to races and the races. We will have a page on the GRANDS on the site soon but this year it will not include our pictures and commentary as in the last few years. Not to say we did any better than others but it is always a lot of work and fun covering the GREATEST BMX RACE on EARTH and we look forward to '06. I personally want to invite everyone to the Sooner National, February 3-5 2006 at the Lazy 'E' arena in Guthrie Oklahoma. Who knows maybe you can get a look at this 'ole Track Operator out on the track a racin'..........
I also want to say THANK YOU to everyone who spent time on our site this year and we hope you come back soon to see our site and to race in the Great State of Oklahoma, home to some of the best BMXers in the nation! Have a great Christmas holiday, New Years and we look forward to seeing you here racing in 2006, may it be the best year ever for us all!

The race is on and riders from all over the World are here in Tulsa. The racing started early this morning and as the day progressed the racing just got hotter. The weather was a little cooler but the arena was warm and the crowd was there to watch the best riders compete. The riders are here and ready for the racing to begin. We will see you there!

The Race of Champions and National Age Group race were completed today and there was some great racing action here today. Congratulations to all who made it to race at these races. Some riders wait all year for these races and to some it was well worth the wait.

ONE DAY BEFORE IT STARTS
The time has grown short and the riders are preparing for the GRANDS in Tulsa. The track is built and ready for riders. The weather has stayed nice but it looks as if we may have some rain on the weekend. All in all the weather should not be a factor. We have been told the track is awesome and as said before there will be NO WET SPOTS this year!

WEATHER?
The days are winding down and a few are already on the road, some are packing, some are ready to pack and others are getting ready for a short drive. It has arrived! A brand new Shur-Start was delivered today to Oklahoma City and we will be playing with it this week. Ready, Set, GO, well not quite but you will know what the new unit is all about next week after we put it to the test the next few days. IN THE BEGINNING
In the beginning there was but a pile of dirt. Then the master builders set out to build THE TRACK of the year. What will it be like this year? Will it be wet and mushy again this year? Not this year boys and girls as it seems this year the rain maker has looked over Oklahoma for the last few weeks. This year we will have a dry track. Now what will THE TRACK look like?

What is it about this year that has been so strange. It seems that this year has been a bad year for Sooner Pearl, but it has been great. We had a lawn mower stolen this year and someone donated this awesome mower. We call it Killa', it is like the Energizer bunny, it don't know when to stop. Our computer and many other items were stolen and now we have this cool computer, the makings for an awesome PA system and a brand NEW Shur-Start is on the way to our track. Things have been bad and getting much better. With that in mind let us all take this GRANDS to make sure we all give THANKS for all the things we have.

We will Practice today from 2-4pm. If we have enough riders who want to and are ready to race we will Race if the riders want to race. The track has had some work during this week and is looking great. We have had time to replace some of the equipment which was stolen back on Oct. 20th, thanks to some great donations from here in the city and from far away.

LESS THAN 1 WEEK FROM TODAY
The GRANDS will start in less than a week and riders who plan to race in Tulsa need to get ready as time is getting short for Practice and Racing. If things go as planned we will be making a treck to 'T' town next week to bring back some news of the track and what is happening before the start of the big races.

We will not have a RACE today, as we have been telling people our track lights have again been vandalized and due to this we are not able to light the track enough to safely ride after dark. We have been planning to get them fixed but other things have delayed this project.

COOL BUT DRY
The weather has been great for November and we have not had any rain for several days now. The track is dry, smooth and ready to ride on, it has been in great shape for a couple weeks now. Day riding is great but our light problem has been delaying us from after dark events, we hope to have the lights fixed shortly.

As this year has passed we have been able to have events after dark most of the year. Now it seems we will have to cancel our after dark events until we are able to get our lights repaired and be able to light the track for safe riding. RACE SUNDAY
We did race on Sunday and the riders had a great time. We had a very LOW rider turn-out for races even though the GRANDS are just around the corner. In a little over a week we will be making the trip to TULSA for the start of the 'GREATEST RACE ON EARTH'. We are looking forward to seeing all our old friends and meeting some new friends. If you have the time it is a great way to spend the Thankgiving weekend and it is FREE to watch.

It will be a real nice day for racing. There is only 12 days left before GRANDS and riders need to get out and ride to get ready. Our forecast for next weekend is dry, and cool. We will practice on Saturday November 19th and race on Sunday November 20th weather permitting.

COMPUTER HERE TODAY
We now have a replacement computer for the track. We have not been able to all the software loaded yet but we will have it in working order Saturday. It may be old but we are getting the latest software so it will be a good computer for the future. It may not be pretty but it will be great for the track.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT #4
We are happy to announce that THANKS to some GREAT folks Sooner Pearl BMX will begin Racing and Practicing with a newer computer. The computer tower was donated along with so upgraded hardware and software. This computer is running Windows XP Pro and a much faster unit than our old computer. We have had a several donations which have helped to replace some of the items stolen on October 20th. We want to thank the following for their donations and hard work to HELP US.

ACS Computers
These guys are great and they have been around helping in the background for some time. This time they donated hardware to us and upgraded our computer which was paid for with donated money. Thanks to the Boyers for their work and getting things done for us in 1 day!

A DAY OFF
Today was a day of work for many and that sometimes means there was NO WORK on the track today. We will be working on the track later this week to complete the repairs to the tower. Next week we will begin upgrading the tower even further to help prevent another loss for the track.

WINDOW REPAIRS
The window which was used to enter the tower during our latest burglary has been focus of our work for a couple days now. It looks as if we may be covering the upper windows with metal to secure them even better and there will be more repairs and changes to the lower windows in the near future. Our lower windows will be made so they can only be opened with a key, they will be secured with locks on the inside.

BASCO Screenprinting & Signs
What can we say about BASCO? They have been nice enough to donate several things to help our track get back on its feet and volunteer to help work on the track to help prepare it for our return to racing. They have also made some NEW SIGNS for the track (some which have already been stolen) and have told us we will be able to get replacements for the stolen signs. HAPPY HALLOWEEN
It is the time of the year when kids think about candy and costumes, others think of ways to trick their friends but BMXers think of the GRANDS. This time of the year is for practice, racing and more practice. We want to wish everyone a Happy Halloween and hope everyone is safe and has fun.

Today is the start of the resurrection of our track. At this point it has been the fortune of Sooner Pearl to have friends in many places. We have made progress with replacing some of our equipment and if things keep going the way they have this last week we will be up and running in about 10 days. A DAY WITHOUT VANDALISM

We will cancel races today. The tower have major work yesterday and most of the damage from our break-in was repaired. We will be working on the rest of the damaged areas today and hope to have all repairs complete today. WORK DAY TODAY
We will be out working on the track today after noon, some of us will be working on getting the tower secure again and others will be working on the track to complete the removal of all the grass on the track and smoothing the track. We could use your help working today.

Since the Sure-Start was stolen this week and we did not have a backup unit we will most likely not race Sunday. We are trying to locate another Sure-Start for the gate. REPAIR THE TOWER
The tower is getting some attention this week as we pick up the pieces from the burglary Thursday. Today we made some temporary fixes to the window used to enter the tower. Saturday we will be working on the track and may complete repairs to the tower to secure it again.

NO RACE TODAY / PERSONAL NOTE
We will not RACE today. Sometime between 5:30pm Wednesday evening and 3:45pm Thursday we had a break-in and burglary of our tower building. The tower has been very damaged and will need major repairs. Most everything inside the tower was stolen including our Sure-Start, computer and all concession items. Much more was taken but we will not list the items here.

PERSONAL NOTE...........
As Track Operator I (Richard Axtell) have been in contact with the Oklahoma City Police Dept. to report our break-in and burglary. As has been in the past our call to the Police Dept. was a LOW PRIORITY call and it took about 1 hour for the Police to respond to our call for help. After filling out a report and an inspection of the area by the Police nearly 2 hours had passed. Due to the time and circumstances I decided to remain at the track till dark to (hopefully) stop the return of the burglar to finish cleaning out what was not already stolen. Since I stayed at the track I was unable to update the phone message (our phone was stolen) and the web site to reflect that we would NOT RACE today.
I want to apologize for not making the changes to the phone message and web site today.

MORE WORK TODAY
We had a few people who came to the track today during the daytime to work on the track. First we want to thank them for their work and what they did to improve the track. Today they removed most of the grass from the third straight and groomed some of the jumps in that same straight. It was determined we would return Saturday at noon the continue work on the track. MORE MOTORCYCLES TODAY
Today we caught 3 motorcycles out riding on the track and sent them away with a new understanding of city laws. It is illegal to ride motorcycles in the city except a couple places and Sooner Pearl IS NOT one of those places. Due to the number of motorcycles we have had lately we are now locking the gate at the entrance to the track. If you come out to ride while the track gate is locked you may park across the street and ride the track on bicycles.

The weather has changed to FALL weather this week and it is much cooler. A little on the windy side with overcast skies and a high in the 50's today. We have rain in the forecast for Sunday and will have to wait to see about racing then.

PRACTICE TODAY
The track will be open for Practice tonight. We will be out working on rough spots during Practice tonight. This may be your only chance to ride till the weekend as we have rain in the forecast tomorrow and Thursday along with much cooler weather and maybe downright cold evenings.

The Suburban was recovered. It is totaled out and was found near SE 29th and Eastern Ave. Crashed into at least one other vehicle and/or a pole and the interior was ripped to shreds. Everything inside was stolen, the Power Rake was stolen from inside the Suburban along with baseball equipment, a BMX bike and personal items. Keep a look out for the Power Rake as it has Sooner Pearl BMX painted on the deck in white paint. It also has a nearly new 5hp horizontal shaft motor.

RAIN LATE TODAY
Rain has once again moved thru town and left the track wet and muddy. A few of us were at the track working tonight before the rain started. We left about 10pm when the rain began. Work has continued on the track and things are getting much better.

NO RACE - WORK DAY TODAY
The track will be OPEN today as we work on it to finish getting it smooth for Sunday racing. Since we were unable to finish yesterday we will not race today. We will race Sunday afternoon at our regular time. We will have a greatly improved smooth track this afternoon and you should come out to ride later today.
As of this morning it looks as if we will be missed by the left-overs of hurricane Rita, we may not even get any rain from her tomorrow. We will have to wait to see but the local forecast has a 20% chance of rain for late Sunday.

The track will be OPEN tonight because we will be out working tonight. We will be out after 6pm working to smooth the track for Sunday racing. We would also like to welcome riders here from South Texas and from other Gulf coast cities who have relocated to Oklahoma City to escape from hurricanes this month. We have already had contacts with some riders and are expecting more these next days and weeks. Some will even be working on Sooner Pearl tonight. We did have some heavy rain late this evening and the track is wet. We had a couple individuals who rode and walked around the track when it was wet from the rain earlier this week. The track will be closed today for the holiday weekend, we will not have a Clinic today. We did get more mowing done Friday evening and things are beginning to look much better. Our new mower is doing a great job of knocking down the mower time at the track and it is nice to see the place getting mowed.

MORE WORK TODAY
A couple of us were out working around the track today and things are getting mowed down to the ground, relax only the grass was mowed down. We have had some problems with keeping the grass mowed around the track since the track mower and weedeater was stolen a couple weeks ago. Now it is not a problem any more. With the donation of a better mower, one that is mowing down our 5 foot tall Johnson grass and a better weedeater that is those green things are slowly disappearing around the track now. It is much work but it sure looks good when it gets done and that is our mission, making the track a better place for all.

MORE VANDALISM
OK, it is time for a little help here at the track. It seems we did get some rain Sunday night at the track and there was several places on the track which were muddy. Now add a motorcycle (MX) with the mud and we have a big mess on the track. It is all gone now but the damage had already been done. If you find people riding motorcycles on the track just get a tag number and call the POLICE.

WORK, WORK, WORK
It was another hot day today and we made it without rain maybe the rain is giving us a break for a while. The track is looking good now but as always it could still use some work. We have been working hard to get the track back to a smooth condition, without a 4 wheeler and volunteers is just takes some time to get it back in shape.
We have had a few more donations this week and things will look a little more freshly painted in the near future along with some repairs which are needed to the starting hill tower and the main tower. Since we have had some local graffiti artists working on tagging the track we will be out covering up our 'artwork' soon.

Once again we have had people who are trying to break in at the track. Funny since we have nothing worth stealing there but that don't stop the attempts. We get another day without rain today and there was much work done on the track today. About half the track got work today and is smooth and ready to ride. Some grass was mowed and things are looking much better both on the track and off.

BUSY DAY
We did not work at the track today but worked in other places on track projects. We have had another great donation to the track this week and this donation will have a huge affect on the appearance of the track. Sooner Pearl is now the proud owner of a TROY-BILT mower and it is a great mower which will help keep the grass mowed around the track.
